Double Winning St Johnstone FC Thread

Going forward, I hope with the incoming Americans being lawyers, part specialising in employment laws. That employees contracts that do have to have release clauses in are only valid/met when targets have been achieved. In Adamas case I'd have definitely had goals scored as one of these.

What  I am getting at is that I have my fingers crossed that the 'run like Letham' attitude is long gone now.

St Johnstone every time they have a half decent player...

Based on the fact almost immediately this summer his agent has been punting his name via all the pretend in the know fake rumour mill "journalists" on twitter I wouldn't be at all shocked that some kind of release clause was mandatory from them in the negotiations when he signed.

There when was a Sports journalist with 20 followers claiming he had the exclusive on him yesterday 🤦‍♂️😂

My worry is now him being unsettled by this agent. "Force the move by going on strike". I wouldn't be surprised if that's the kind of shit this agent tries to pull.

Not at all convinced that most of the top half Championship clubs are all fighting over his signature like his agent is touting either.

I don't think this would be the case, hence the 'Adama is very happy at St Johnstone and grateful to Craig Levein' line which has been peddled in these same articles, presumably to minimise any chance of turbulence if the attempts are unsuccessful to get him a move elsewhere.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't start the season as a Saints player.

Top Championship clubs might pay 500k for a promising youth with 15 senior appearances, not for a promising 25 year-old with 15 senior appearances.

He's 26 in a couple weeks i think too.

Leicester City once spent £1m (rising to £1.7m) on a 25yo who'd only ever played one season above the English 7th tier.

Big thing with Mitov and Sidibeh is both have come here, performed, earned International caps and look likely to move on to a larger wage and bigger opportunity.

Both should be at the absolute forefront of our sales pitch to players this Summer about why they should join us.

Eric just posted an article saying the club haven’t even had a phone call about him or Dimi.

People forget accounts on Twitter can post absolutely anything with zero accountability or repercussions.

Noticed that in his tweet about it one fan asked for news about Liam Gordon and another asked about Taylor Steve. Nicholson replied that both had been offered a new deal.

Edit. It wasn't Nicholson's tweet about Mitov and Sidibeh. It was his tweet about Drey Wright's new contract.

But you're naming one example pertaining to a clearly exceptional talent. I hope you end up being proven right, but I currently feel you're slightly over-egging the pudding when it comes to Sidibeh's quality. Jamie Vardy is a completely different kettle of fish.

Sidibeh has a decent scoring record for us so far, but nothing outstanding. Outside of his goals, there are many areas of his game that he needs to improve. His goals were incredibly important for us, which I think has led some Saints supporters to get slightly carried away regarding his current market value. The importance of his goals will mean absolutely nothing to potential buyers. They'll just base it on his stats and performances.

What was Vardy like when he signed for Leicester?

Based on what they'd seen, he was clearly a player who they reckoned might be capable of performing at Championship and maybe even Premier League level. So they took a gamble on him which turned out to be correct. This is just a matter where we clearly disagree, as I don't believe we've seen anything yet to suggest that Sidibeh could excel in either of these leagues.

And what's to say Swansea haven't seen the same in Sidibeh?

If he'd moved to Fleetwood Town and hit 5 in 15, and performed how he had done, he'd 100% be of interest of Championship sides (A few were linked before we signed him), and he'd be looked at for £500k as a good gamble.

I'm fully convinced people are just talking him down/money we could get down purely because he plays for us.

Answering in a literal sense, Eric Nicolson's most recent article would suggest that they haven't and the links are most likely just a result of Sidibeh's opportunistic agent. Answering in a more general sense, based on what I've seen from him so far, I simply don't believe that they would have seen enough. This isn't to say that he might not prove it over the course of a full season. I hope he does.
