Double Winning St Johnstone FC Thread

Recommended Posts

Really struggling to see where people are getting the idea that McPherson is going to be frozen out in the stand etc.

The statement gives the polar opposite impression to be honest. The matter is closed as far as they're concerned and he is still in the managers plans.

Perhaps one of the reasons he will not be shown the exit is probably because there is no more money left in the player budget, and no one capable of taking his place.

What have we become?

While I understand why, businesses are c***s who care more about money than they do about their employees spreading hate, but that "resolution" is f**king shocking. The very least St Johnstone should be doing is forcing him to train alone, remove him from the first team, and do a deep dive into his social media. I would wager there are grounds for dismissal under gross misconduct, although legally you do need to go through a process of allowing your employee to explain their actions. Sharing right wing hate material is serious enough in itself and McPherson's "apology" is embarrassing and insulting, both to himself and the fans.

The positive element here is that I know there isn't a single St Johnstone fan who would be willing to put the club in a bad light just so McPherson can play, and I sincerely hope that he is roundly booed with every touch of the ball. If I was his team mate, I wouldn't actually play with him, I'd pass to anyone but him, and I wouldn't speak to him. I think you all know my actions would go further, but I'll keep on the right side of P&B T&C's, and limit it to him being hounded out by all and sundry.

Going by social media he weirdly has quite a few Saints fans on his side willing to sweep this under the carpet.

I know quite a few of them as well, this could cause some friction between fans. In fact it probably will if they try telling me to shut up.

Doesn't his partner hold the same views and posted them online? If so, I would send them to your boy Webb. He was trying to walk the thin line, but he's decided to land on the "it was just a silly mistake". A repeated pattern of supporting right wing hate should clear up any confusion as to why he posted this.

As for your fellow Saints fans, I believe you are of a very similar mindset to me on how to deal with those sorts of people.

The chairman’s son was convicted of a racist assault, but never seen this reaction, he was on the club bus at away games that season! The fact Cami is hated as a player has clouded opinions imo 🤷🏻‍♂️. I’m not condoning him in the least, but I was  shouted down when mentioning the aforementioned guilty charge, as fans seemed to think it was ok 🤷🏻‍♂️

The chairman's son who had absolutely nothing to do with Saints. Was never employed by the club in any capacity. The absolute daddy of false equivalence and whatabouttery.

He was on the club bus, wearing club tie that season. He also had to get escorted away from fighting an old guy in Turkey, Roddy had to come and sort him out. The absolute daddy of hypocrisy! Anti-  Racism  is fine if it’s a hated player !

Quite a lot to unpack here

1) Macpherson is an employee of Saints. The grandchild of Geoff (who was the chairman at the time of that incident, so it wasn't the son of the chairman) was not and never was.  You can hardly hold the standards of an employee to a punter going to games which is in essence all he was.

2) I'm pretty sure you can buy a club tie from the club shop. Did you expect Roddy to go up and take the tie off him?

3) what did you expect Saints officials to do? Act as vigilante police and carry out a citizens arrest?

4) Even if this was remotely relevant, which it's not, we are now under different ownership. What Adam Webb does can be completely different to what Geoff did, it doesn't make Saints stance hypocritical.

honestly I'm too old for this shit.

Racism is never fine, Tommy.

2) he came in off the club bus with other directors

3) I’d expect him to be as far away from representing Saints as possible

4) makes fans hypocrites that racism is fine if you hit someone with a golf club, but you can’t retweet a video of racism . They’re both racist behaviour!

I wrote a big reply earlier when I seen this nonsense whereaboutary then thought what's the point.

Some people just live in a different universe of delusion. Idiots are idiots and there's no amount of rational thinking that will make a bit of difference.

Someone attended hospitality at an away game in a Saints tie and you expect there to be outrage? No one when knows who this guy is you're going on about!!!!!

If this is aimed at me, he was on team bus, wearing club tie, with other directors, in the bar of away team, but you’re correct he only hit an immigrant with a golf club, not like it was an axe! Whilst shouting racist abuse at his victim

Reasonably confident no one is saying that this is ok but how many people knew about it? Bit much calling it hypocrisy when the majority of fans would have no idea this happened.

And he was dealt with by the appropriate legal channels and by his employers, just as Macpherson has by his employer.

If grandchild of Geoff starts tomorrow then this will be relevant.
