I follow the fella who does the designs for the Irriducibili clothing and banners on Instagram, every so often you will see a picture he has done, and you think "wow that is excellent" then you notice a swastika in the corner and just sigh. They will never change, and the folk saying "Lazio should do more" there isn't a lot that can be done that hasn't been tried unfortunately. it's genuinely bizarre, not just with Lazio, but clearly something that's absolutely engrained in to certain parts of italian society; there's an "ultras" store in verona that produces and distributes stuff for all manner of clubs across europe - not just HV - some of it is really well designed and produced - but look at the Hellas stuff, and there will be a little germanic rune or pro-aryan symbol tucked away somewhere (or sticking out like a dog's knob, to be fair). there are so many aspects of the italian game that i love, but there's an undeniable stain on the game which is just un-washable-awayable. then again, so much of its culture is about history and tradition, can you really be surprised when age-old prejudices come to the surface every now and then; it's all very well acknowledging the civic pride which underscores the Curva Sud at the Bentegodi, for instance - the 600 year old script that manifests itself on the banners (and on Chievo's kit), the Cangrande/Mastino/Scaliger imagery, but that same virulent independence of thought lead to the place being a bastion of facism before and during WW2, to the extent that the locals tolerated the Santuario della Madonna being used as an internment camp - which doubled as a transit camp for jews on their way north - where allied soldiers were terribly mistreated. I think you have to take it all on board - the historic complicity, the subjugation, the aquiescence - and realise that there is an awful lot more to it than "some italians just being fucking nazis" and wearing badges made of bundles of sticks; manifestations of the same intolerance in the english game - where there are absolutely no such mitigating circumstances whatsoever - are far more revolting; straight up bigotry and nothing more...
RandomGuy.
Roma v Genoa been great fun, 2-2 at half time, first goal an absolutely horrendous error from Olsen. Can't help but feel Roma massively hinder themselves with defensive errors, look a really decent team any time I've watched them, but always concede from an error.
RandomGuy.
Ronaldo playing as poorly as I've ever seen him play in this game against Roma. Rest of team neat interplay and movement, every attack going through him ends up with him losing it, falling down, or having a shot blocked.

RandomGuy.
Inter to play two games behind closed doors as "punishment" Should be a massive points deduction for racism, take 15pts off c***s and it'll stop.

Salvo Montalbano
on the upside, keep an eye out for footage of the own goal by the ascoli keeper at palermo this evening - comic genius [emoji38]Was a superb effort. The camera operators clearly weren't expecting it since they all seemed to miss it. Are you in Italy at the moment? I watch the occasional Serie B match on YouTube but haven't bothered with Eleven Sports for Serie A. Although it looks like they might be going bust anyway.
