Jamaldo
Weird things - basically Scooby Doo with the capability to rip your head off. Man's best friend IMO.

For the first 3 or 4 years of their lives, they haven't been socialised at all & have never met any other breeds of dogs. When they are rehomed, they sometimes have to be taught that dogs come in all shapes and sizes. At first, they consider anything that isn't greyhound shaped to be prey. It's even trickier when you get an Irish dog (like ours) who we suspect to have been trained with live prey. It doesn't help that he's not the brightest. It took 3 years, but he can now safely be let out without his muzzle. With regard to your point about rottweilers, I would suggest that people who rescue greyhounds tend to be dog lovers, whilst many rottweiler owners are looking for a "status symbol" Thanks for that reply, that makes sense. I was reasoning it on my experience of greyhounds who must have went to good homes because they always seem brilliant when I meet them walking my dog. Fair play to you for taking in retired greyhounds, it's criminal that there is a need for it. My dog is a rescue dog and it's taken two years for her to be sociable with other dogs, it's hard to undo the harm done in early years.
ICTJohnboy
Greyhounds are stupid. If they had any sense at all they would realise that when sprung from their traps at a racetrack the "hare" will come right round the track and all they have to do is stand still and wait for it. You would think that after all these years of chasing a mechanical hare round and round a track some of them might have got wise to what is going on here, but no, they still they fall for it every time. MONKMAN
A 4 month old baby killed and 2 year old toddler mauled, by a Staffordshire bull terrier. Who in their right mind would actually allow these creatures near children?
