Slash EU regulations on wildlife protection and drug safety trials after Brexit, Michael Gove urges

Ahh so taking back control wasn't about immigration after at all for Gove.
He as just using it as a platform so he could change the law and take backhanders from businesses.

At least there's that.

If it weren't for the fact that polls have lost their credibility I'd like to see a poll asking whether people still want to leave the EU.

Agreed - because neither Labour nor the Lib-Dems :oopshad the balls to campaign on an anti-Brexit platform then we've got guys like Iain Duncan-Smith saying there's no mandate for a change in Brexit policy. What May thinks is less clear, yesterday a spokesman for her said "No change" but RD is saying that she's told May that she must pursue a softer Brexit - you couldn't make it up!

My opinion is May's Brexit policy won't change as she'll not want to offend the UKIP leaning side of her party down south. As they say all will be revealed.......

I see this election result is now being painted as " a rejection of hard brexit".

Well..well..well...Who'd have thought that?  i said as soon as this election was called that it was merely a ruse to keep us in the EU.

just watch the sneaky deals being done now.

Not going to happen, unfortunately.

Do you want a "hard Brexit"?

If so, why?

Indeed. Between the election, the daft court case that the govt were never going to win, the election of a pro remain prime minister, the wasting of time after article 50 has been triggered before negotiating and the scare stories about nurse applications and the city of London losing business, it's a wonder Farage hasn't had an anyeurism yet.

Brexit will happen as both parties are committed to it. Corbyn's already signalled in debates that he's going to fight the government on securing a brexit deal that helps those who turned to UKIP before and offer an alternative to the Tories ongoing rush to turn Britain into a tax haven. If, and it's a big if, he can maintain party unity then rebel Tory MPs will be interesting to watch. I doubt every Tory wants a tax haven.

So providing someone can come up with a deal that satisfies Corbyn, satisfies whoever succeeds May and satisfies our EU neighbours this is basically home and dry.

For the SNP, there are those that believe that Scottish independence is the solution to everything
For Labour, there are those that believe that socialism is the solution to everything

Similarly for some Tories, Brexit is the answer to everything.

If it gets cancelled or watered down then be prepared for lots of google searchs by Tories on Hari Kari.

Don't worry.  It will be more like "Hari Kari for greasy slimeballs who don't actually want to die."

From the Guardian's Brussels correspondent:

  • The British diplomats asked to start technical talks led by civil servants, while gov sorts out itself/Queen's speech 2

  • Barnier said no. EU side want to ensure UK’s chief negotiator has a mandate from the British gov before formal talks can begin 3

  • EU wants reliable, accountable, chief negotiator with a mandate, but not sure they will get one 4

Barnier told the British he was open to a number of start dates, listing various days of the week. Robbins and Barrow could not name a day 5

  • Barnier also spent some time explaining to the British the EU's preferred 4-week cycle for running the negotiations 6

Remember UK not done trade talks for decades. The EU has scores of people who specialise in international negotiations, not just trade /7

British gov has not sent any details of its Brexit position to Brussels and no one knows what British really want now/ 8

What an utter car crash we are as a nation. Aside from the fact that I think it's a terrible idea, I'm not convinced that Brexit is achievable at all. Particularly if you have a government so f*cking incompetent that they called an election after triggering Article 50.
