Guest Jedi
It surely has to be extended now, with the latest closure of borders to the UK, and also the EU parliaments not having time to meet prior to Jan 1st, to vote on any 'deal' proposed....even if its 'no deal' there would still have to be some form of arrangements made with EU leaders into next year. Johnson's promise of getting it done, oven ready nonsense has well and truly failed, whatever happens now.

Theroadlesstravelled
I’m hoping that a soft Brexit means that Britons don’t lose EU citizenship. To quote a bitter, fat ***- Haven’t we been punished enough?
madwullie
From the lawyers and experts I've been reading, it doesn't look like there's a legal route to an extension anyway.

I don't get the fixation with extensions and deadlines when they're all superficial at this point. Even if it's a no deal outcome you would imagine both sides will start a new round of discussions relatively swiftly in the new year.

btb
A Brexit extension would no doubt be a boon with the current deterioration with regards to the pandemic but does anyone seriously think that we won't be back here when the new deadline looms? That said a three month extension so that the vaccine program is well underway and (hopefully) spring brings about an additional drop in infections should be a no-brainer.
