O'Kelly Isley III
As if Brexit wasn't providing quite enough comedy value we learn today that Lord Ian Botham and Sir Jeffrey Donaldson have been appointed Trade Envoys to Australia and Cameroon respectively. Desperate, truly desperate stuff from the UK Government.

He's a Tory Peer so it's obvious that he's involved in politics. There is no need for "trade envoys". It's just another case of party patronage, jobs for the boys etc, at the taxpayers' expense. All parties have done it for hundreds of years. Our '"democracy" is corrupt and rotten to the core.
HeartsOfficialMoaner
Prisoners to plug worker shortage in meat industry according to BBC, 14,000 job vacancies. What about the shortage of HGV drivers, plenty prisoners can take these jobs as well.

The UK media is a fucking joke.

What could possibly go wrong?
dirty dingus
If they get prisoners to get out to do all these shortfall jobs, who's going to be keeping an eye on them. A pal of mine used to get prisoners to work with him in the summer doing tidy ups, painting, grass cutting at a local park. He went through a fair few over the period with some scooting off for drink, meeting birds or scoring drugs. These were long termers coming to the end of their sentences.

This sounds more like companies employing prisoners than a work experience style scheme. If a food processing factory is going to rely on the labour of prisoners then they must receive the same wage as equivalent workers in the business. It will fall flat on it's arse when the first lawsuit goes in when a jailbird gets done with a serious assaults on a non prisoner work colleague.

Off topic, but we should start referring to him as “the sex offender Prince Andrew” on every occasion. I’d like to see some (many) comedians doing that when referring to him.
