HibeeJibee
Having beaten Albania 11-0 and Cyprus 8-0 our Womens U19s were to face Serbia (who had themselves won 3-0 and 9-0) in a deciding game to progress to the next stage of Womens U19 Euro 2017 qualifying. However we failed to field a team and the squad has since returned home at the end of the 6-day series. SFA say the squad developed food poisoning but some reports claim the players were hungover?!?! UEFA to adjudge the case at a hearing on Wednesday. Hope to goodness there's no substance to the drunkenness claims. Similarly if it turns out any dirty tricks have been played by other parties as regard spreading the drink claims, hopefully UEFA will take action.http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/scotland/uefa-probes-scotland-call-off-amid-claims-u19-women-were-hungover-1-4237863
tamthebam
I know some of the players and they train hard. I don't think coach Gareth Evans would allow anything unprofessional to occur either. I think it's malicious horseshit made up by hacks who should know better. Savage Henry
There are official ways and means of handling these things. My money's on the hangover.
Redstarstranraer
SFA still say it was gastroenteritis, Serbs still say it was the drink. UEFA haven't issued any opinion on the whys and wherefores of the case it seems, but have ruled Scotland 'refused to play' so the standard penalty for forfeiting a match has been applied: European football's governing body has ruled that Scotland Women Under-19s must forfeit their match against Serbia for their "refusal to play". The Scots had stated that their team had suffered from "an outbreak of acute gastroenteritis". But they have been deemed to have lost the European Championship qualifying tie, which was due to be played on 19 September in Albania, by 3-0. It follows a ruling by Uefa's control, ethics and disciplinary body. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37509503 Scotland appear to have sent UEFA the equivalent of a 'doctor's note' stating that there was a genuine medical issue, but either they weren't convinced or considered that an irrelevance. Or thought a mass hangover after a night of hard bevvying in Albania a more credible version of events.
HibeeJibee
Ambiguous finding from UEFA, it appears. Thankfully, from the Scotland U19s perspective, they'll still progress to the next round as one of the best runners-up. We'll all drink to that...
