Mario + Rabbids is out on Tuesday.  Ubisoft's take on XCOM with Nintendo and Rabbid characters.  I'm hyped.

Currently playing through Sonic Mania, purchased for 699 rubles on the Russian eShop i.e. about six quid cheaper than the UK one.  It's a doddle to change region on a web browser before going into the device's eshop to purchase.  It saved me a tenner on Splatoon 2 as well.

And you're just telling us about this now, why?? :o

You never asked?  I bought Splatoon 2 on the South African store - I tend to buy physical releases of AAA titles to sell on again, but I gathered I will be dipping in and out of Splatoon for the duration of owning the console.  Both eshops took my credit card no problem.  I read the US store needs a home address but I've not used it yet.

Go to your Nintendo account on a web browser.

Find your profile settings. Change region to Russia/South Africa.

Go into the eShop on the Switch, which will log in under the new region's store.

Make your purchase - the two regions above worked with my credit card.  Prices are set differently per region.  It then starts downloading.

Its that simple.  I changed the region back immediately in the web browser, so I don't have any Russian in the news feed.

I've made two purchases so far with no adverse consequences.

If anyone is thinking about buying a Switch, Game.co.uk are running a day only £20 off deal.

Also, has anyone bought a screen protector for their Switch? I wasn't going to bother but the screen looks about as robust as my Iphone, which I have already replaced the protector twice!!

Nintendo claiming that they will make enough SNES Minis to meet demand and will also be making more NES Minis.

I got one on pre-order about an hour ago via GAME, and my colleague has just tried to get one for his son ten minutes ago and they are sold out already.

Got the boy his Nintendo Switch at the weekend thanks to his Mother, so it's been put away safely for Christmas.  Just need to get him a few games, he wants MarioKart and the Pokemon Battle game when it comes out.  I don't think he would be that bothered with Zelda in all honesty, but think I'll probably pick it up for myself to play when he's not using it!

I got one on Game at lunchtime as well.  I had also ordered one from Amazon France, but the Game one is £15 cheaper.  I'll wait a day or so and cancel the Amazon one.

Right gents, I'm bored with my Xbox and its games and looking for something different. Really tempted to get the switch to play zelda (never played any of them). What's the deal with controllers? Does it come with 1 or 2?
Would you recommend this for a "mature" gamer (auld c**t) of 45?

I wouldn't say i'm old but ive been playing video games for 30 years!

I've never played a Zelda game either and I'm enjoying the Switch version so far. Also Mario Kart is really good fun as well.

The Switch comes with 2 joycons. These can either be connected to either the side of the portable unit and be used as side controllers. Or you can hold one in each hand whilst you look at the screen.  If you have the Switch connected  to a TV via the docking station you can use the joycons as seprate controllers. The joycons are a bit small to be used on their own so i've bought one of the pro controllers which is more like your standard ps4/xbox controller.

Hope that helps!

What mrpaddyx said. I've also been playing video games for 30 years.

Breath of the wild is an absolute masterpiece, however, the range of other games a more experienced gamer might want to play is a but limited, particularly if you don't fancy the new Mario game or you've already played Skyrim.

Cheers mate, never played Skyrim, so that would be good to try.
