The Official Former President Trump thread

US President Donald Trump's nominee has been sworn in to lead the Environmental Protection Agency.

Scott Pruitt, a fierce critic of the agency, was approved by the Republican-controlled Senate despite Democratic attempts to delay the confirmation.

A bit like electing an MEP who is opposed to the idea of the EU.

"We need to rerun the tape. Ladies and gentlemen, we were attacked on Dec. 7, 1941, we were attacked on Sept. 11, 2001, and we were attacked on Nov. 8, 2016. That most recent attack didn’t involve a horrible loss of lives, but it was devastating in its own way. Our entire intelligence community concluded that Russia hacked our election by deliberately breaking into Democratic National Committee computers and then drip-by-drip funneling embarrassing emails through WikiLeaks to undermine Clinton’s campaign. And what have we done about it? Other than a wrist slap against Moscow, we’ve moved on.

That is not O.K."

Whether you like the guy or not comparing someone you dislike who was voted in fairly to the deaths of countless lives is rather pathetic. The media has really lost the plot at this point, with over the top shit like this and the crap that's been happening with the Youtuber Pewdiepie, taking things deliberately out of context to discredit him just shows how far the media has fallen.

It does seem a bit more reasonable than equating a foreign power sabotaging the democratic process to 'someone you dislike being voted in fairly'.

Ill be happy to listen to any points regarding Russian Interference in the election when some actual proof surfaces, not really gonna believe the CIA when they said they are reasonably sure it happened. These are the same people who were also reasonably assured there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, look how that turned out. Words are pretty meaningless without evidence. I could go about telling people i can shit gold, but until i drop a gold nugget i wouldn't expect anyone to believe it.

I don't think anyone would have been surprised beforehand if they were told that Russia would interfere in the process.

Given previous - the whole RT line of attack the West and Assange's obsessiveness in the same area, it should not be a shock.

So you've gone from criticising Friedman for saying the allegations are serious to criticising him for assuming that they're true.

Which in the limited context of the extract you quoted is consistent

In terms of the overall thrust of Friedman's article, that the likes of Mitch McConnell are looking the other way and not even acknowledging that there is anything to investigate you don't seem too far off.

The difference is that you think the Russian security services are telling the truth
