ICTChris
That's a bit like the Simpsons episode where Homer's long lost brother asks him to design the car of the future. Fucking hell. I would definitely vote for him if I were a septic. If it all goes tits up, I can just move to the moon.

Anyway, Trump's going to win it again. Genuinely think it's going to be the 269 v 269 scenario for the first time ever. We know what happens then. Anyway, look forward to you all fighting for my refugee status. Stick around this time man! Re Dorly's post, some good points amongst his usual bizarre galaxy brain style posting. If anyone really thinks Trump losing this election is time to say "good night white pride" and to the far right in the USA then I have a lovely bridge to sell them. National polling was very accurate. If anything, Clinton exceeded her expected share of the national vote. The flaws were entirely local, and came through poor polling.

paul-r-cfc
Anyone listened to 'Battlegrounds'? Podcast with the Obama and McCain campaign chiefs from 2008 discussing key states and such. Really interesting.

Right... but his enablers, the GOP and the loon ball conspiracy theorists, will have their oxygen removed. Trump is a symbol of a broader malaise, but he’s also directly responsible for some of these knuckle draggers having the confidence to express their idiotic views.

Fox News was not always the insane home of freaks and bigots. It used to be a reasonably sensible, if poisonously right wing, genuine news channel (by American standards, obviously). From time to time, semblances of competence gets through the cracks. Not often, but their polling figures is one such example. I was particularly blown away by the revelation that the decline of social democratic parties is indicative of a split between the liberal middle classes and the conservative working classes, and that there are no easy fixes. Can't believe that this has gone unmentioned in the media and on here. Edited October 24, 2020 by welshbairn

I mean, I really hope that's the case. But with the demographic, economic and climate trends coming or already arrived, I have to doubt that another Trump like figure head won't be along sooner rather than later. If I had any faith in a Biden/Pelosi led democratic party being able to address the underlying issues which caused the rise of the far right in the US I might be more optimistic. But the "knuckle draggers" in the republican party have been kicking the Dems up and down the aisles of both houses for as long as I can remember because they're smarter than they look and don't give a shit about norms.
