New clubs in the East of Scotland

For teams to enter a b team cost is not an issue.

They are paying these players currently, playing them in a national league with many(maybe even the majority?) playing out of other clubs grounds anyway .

There are many reasons to be against colt teams, the cost to sides running them isn't one.

They are not always paying a full squad though, and since these games would be played either on the same day (or maybe a day either side) so you'd need 18 first team players + 16 (I'd guess) under 20 players per match day plus guys who can step in when others are injured = 40 odd players.

They'd also be playing on a Saturday so the teams who currently play midweek at other venues would need to negotiate new deals there, or find a new venue of the ground isn't going to he available for other league fixtures.

So more players and either a new venue, using their own venue more often and so increased ground maintenance costs or a new agreement at their current venue. All that adds up to increased costs. Only one (possibly two or three) clubs could absorb all that tbh...

Sounds very promising.  I'm glad they are pushing for more promotion spots.  One down from a league of 16 is not enough (although there has been no need for more relegation spots so far due to the lack of licensed clubs; hopefully that changes).  Certainly seems like Bo'ness could apply next season which would be great for the league and the pyramid in general.

If there was a demand for more relegation spots in the LL.  I can't imagine any opposition as 1 down from 16 isn't enough. It just hasn't been an issue before

“We had a few other clubs showing an interest, none more so than Bo’ness but, for one reason or another, it was only Kelty who formally submitted an application. But of the clubs who were interested, Kelty were much further down the line in terms of gaining their licence and they expect to have that in place some time this year.

Guess it makes sense that Bo'ness didn't do it this year if they weren't so far along on licensing as that could have meant a season in the EoS when they had no chance of promotion, which would be difficult to explain/justify to supporters. Will be interesting to see if the LL adopts a self-preservation society approach to expanding the number of relegated clubs.

In today's Berwickshire News it's revealed that Tweedmouth Community FC - formerly Tweedmouth Amateurs - have applied for planning permission to redevelop their ground at Five Arches with a view to joining the EOS League. They intend to enclose the park in a similar fashion to Coldstream (i.e. leaving it open to the public outwith matches), rail the pitch, improve car parking, build a new clubhouse and create a children's play park.

In the usual Borders fashion a protest group has been established to oppose progress the proposed developments.

Does the town of Berwick really need another EOSL side? Tweedmouth Rangers are already struggling so will Tweedmouth Community do any better, they will just probably end up taking players from each other so can't really see any of the two doing much.

Where's Five Arches about in the town?
