CLYDE FC Season 2017-18 Thread

Despite his blip at Alloa, you'd think Lennon has enough about him to stabilise things and pull Clyde away from relegation at least, particularly if Cowdenbeath and/or Edinburgh City don't turn things around themselves. You couldn't see a manager with a better pedigree than Lennon taking that job and it seems to be the best appointment you could hope for.

One thing though, do Clyde fans feel you have a squad of players failing to play to their potential who are obviously capable of better results, or is it more a case that Chapman just built an appallingly bad squad of players miles out of their depth that will need to be overhauled as much as possible in January? If it's the former then you've every reason to be confident of a quick turnaround, but if it's closer to the latter then that's the kind of squad that Lennon had his nightmare season with at Alloa.

I’d say it is more the former. Whilst there is some dross in the team and certainly some areas that need strengthened come January there are some talented players in the squad. The bulk of this team played for the Annan side who made the playoffs last season so they absolutely should be capable of pushing on under Lennon.

The two matches under McNally saw much better football and better defending that looked organised.

However, it was against two teams that fancied their chances and played an offensive games. It will be interesting to see how we do against teams that sit in and counter on the break.

It was really nice on Saturday to watch a Clyde team trying to play football. I hope Lennon continues in this manner (as I'm sure he will)

Over the moon to have Lennon at Clyde, he is who I’ve wanted from day 1 and realistically couldn’t think of a better candidate, pity it wasnt 10 games ago tho.. I think at this rate making playoffs is a big ask sadly but definitely in the right direction :thumsup2

Big thanks to Tony McNally who has done a great job the last couple of games, early to say but at this rate he really deserved the job.

They’re hardly world beaters but if Lennon can stop us conceding three goals a game ( set pieces in particular) then we’ll start to pick up points. There is a bit of deadwood there and he should be given the opportunity to build his own team. The Alloa comparison doesn’t really work here as the rest of the league are hardly miles ahead in terms of ability. Saturday showed that with a bit of determination and direction, we can compete with the optimum in this league.

I’m not expecting miracles this season and Lennon shouldn’t be judged if we don’t make the play offs. Of course if we end up worse then we’re back square one.

All the very best Mr Lennon, should be an extremely good appointment by all accounts, credit to all involved. And huge credit and thanks to Tom and Ian for providing two much improved performances and results in the interim period. Hopefully this time we can emerge as an credible proposition and provide both entertainment and results that we have been craving for, for some considerable time..........

There ye go FS nae grudges!!.....

Great appointment and astonished Clyde could raise the money to get him. A proper sign of intent. How long is the appointment for?

If he can narrow the gap slightly on the play offs, keep Goodwillie post Christmas and bring in a couple of others it could get quite exciting. Lets hope he delivers and gets some good support.
