I don't remember us doing programmes for a couple of seasons at least.

Yeah,  most teams have resumed this year, only two I’ve not had one from yet is Airdrie and ICT. Was just checking on the off chance I missed the seller when we were up there.

The closest thing we've had to a programme recently IIRC has been a teamsheet with the line  ups or squads which was a single sheet of paper left out in piles in the Supporters Bar at the ground.

I've seen the squad for the NoS semi final against Nairn tonight, it's essentially the under 18s, with a few first team benchers along with Welsh and Wotherspoon.

It wss a terrible performance from our youngsters and reserves. Nixon, Hyde and Lodovica the main culprits. The latter had at least 10 chances to score, 5 of which were in the sitter category. I suppose by the law of averages he was bound to score.

Wotherspoon was class as expected and most of our 30 first half chances came through him but he only played the first half. Welsh took a knee to the back so it wasn't his usual injury so hopefully he's fine.

A further 70 odd chances were created by us in the second half and we managed to convert 2 of them.

All our penalties were nearly saved until Delaney's was. Cammy Mackay went the wrong way for all 7 of Nairn's.

It was also the biggest crowd I've ever seen at Station Park.

The Caley guaranteed league game starters/coming on not in the squad was:

Ridgers, Harper, Duffy, Ujdur, Boyes, Nicolson, Carson, Gilmour, Anderson, Doran, MacGregor, Samuels, Shaw, Longstaff, McKay.

The only ones who played troubling them would be Brookes, Wotherspoon and Welsh.

I couldn't care less about the result last night but then I (mis)read your post and thought that was our starting line up last night and, for a brief moment, cared more.

The result doesn't really bother me, the performances of full time footballers with a couple of seasons of Championship football under their belts against plumbers and uni students does.  If we'd won on penalties last night instead of losing, I'd be saying the same thing.

Delaney, Davidson, Hyde and Lodovica are miles off the standard required and we should be looking to offload them as soon as it's possible for the club to do so.  Worryingly, all 4 are usually part of the league matchday squad and get minutes.

Delaney especially seems to have regressed badly. He looked really good for parts of last season but now seems to be a shadow of that player. Did Deas carry Delaney and Devine through games? Right now it certainly feels like he did.

Five/six of those players have had a decent amount of first-team football. Add in Wotherspoon (who to be fair might not be “match fit”) and that is a shocking result. Billy Dodds really did leave us with a terrible squad.

How much of it also falls on Robertson as well given that he was meant to be (partially) in charge of player recruitment and scouting?

I was told last night that of the signings made this summer, only Brookes was a Dodds signing.  So Davidson, Lodovica, Gilmour, Ujdur and I'm guessing Boyes and Anderson, were someone else.  Presumably Robertson.

Ferguson has inherited a terrible squad, of that there is no doubt.  Beyond the starting 11 of which I would say today, due to injuries is;

                        Ridgers

Carson    Boyes    Udjur    Harper

              Anderson    Gilmour

Shaw    Wotherspoon     Longstaff

                       McKay

we are fairly weak.  Thankfully only Wotherspoon of that 11 played some of the game last night. Brookes and 17 year old Keith Bray are the only 2 off the bench who are actually capable.  The rest of the squad, bar the injured Welsh, Doran, MacGregor and Nicolson, Id be happy to see leave, including Samuels.  Ferguson will know this by now I'd hope.

100% agree on Samuels, during the Abroath game he got totally bossed by their 2 centre halves after Billy went off and apart from the end of the 21/22 season I’ve never been keen on him.

Hopefully there’s some loans lined up to come in January or maybe even some free agents between now and then.

Devine and Duffy, I'm on the fence about.  The former has regressed a lot since Broadfoot and Deas left.  As @RiG points out, they were probably guiding the others through games.  We look far more solid with Ujdur and Boyes in there.  Duffy was brilliant in the cup final but that's really been the only game where I've thought 'this boy is not bad you know'.  I'd happily drive Delaney, Davidson, Hyde and Lodovica to their next clubs.  Anywhere on the planet.

I thought ICT were very poor last night. You are in a lot of bother if a few first team regulars go down and you have to rely on the players from last night.

I don't like criticising goalkeepers when it comes to penalties, but your keeper makes David De Gea look like a penalty saving specialist.

It was great to see such a big turnout at Station Park. Hopefully the excitement of last night will tempt a few along for league games.

Indeed.  Only 2 or 3 of that squad I would trust in the Championship IMO, Devine, Welsh and Wotherspoon.  None of the youngsters really impressed me either, I thought Nixon was poor at left back.  I think he only won a couple of headers all night and missed a load of tackles.

We already have the usual 3 injuries that we get every season (Welsh, Doran and MacGregor), add the always impressive Lewis Niclolson to that and we can't really afford any more.

Where on earth have you conjured that up from?

I thought quite a few people knew knew this I'm not making it up🤣🙈 that's why we had Ryan Barret for just over a month (Thank f**k!) Even tho he was an emergency signing he was so crap we didn't offer an extension.

A few fans knew if we signed Wotherspoon we could only offer him a short term deal till January cause for some reason clubs can't sign players after September on a long term deal. I don't know why that is but apparently its the rules.. this was said weeks before he even signed so it ain't getting plucked out of thin air

Does anyone honestly think we've offered him a 3 month contract over fitness and finances?. A player of his calibre? If we signed him in the Summer or September pretty sure he would've been on a 1 year contract at least. We just gotta hope he signs an extension, plays well and stays fit.

End of the day we'll see how he gets on.
