Junior football, what is the future?

According to Sky Sports tonight, SPFL restructuring is back on, with a 14-10-10-10 structure, which looks like being accepted.

If so, no relegation for Hearts, Partick & Stranraer.

Brora Rangers & Kelty Hearts would be promoted to League Two, to fill the 2 vacant places.

Given you and the Dunipace managerial team have accused me of being Pricey in the past are you now saying I have been red dotting myself with monotonous regularity for several weeks now or is this just a case of taking another wild blind shot in the dark? The truth is out there....

Tutankhamen is Marshmallo.

There’s 300 pages of debate over on the Premiership forum for those bored enough to read it.

Reconstruction of SPFL,  back on ?   "Last chance" apparently.

See article in today's Highland Press & Journal.

It’s never really been off.

You can’t blame Hearts for not taking it lying down.

Repercussions all the way down the Leagues for some clubs however it turns out.

Unless there's any commentary on the North Juniors joining the pyramid under the Highland League, not sure why it matters in the Junior forum.

Well loads of other stuff unrelated to Junior football has found its way on to  here at some point so why change now.

Absolutely true. Thanks  santheman .

Following favourable discussions with the Highland League, the North Caledonian League clubs have agreed to join the Highland pyramid.

Whilst, the North Juniors/pyramid issue is not dead, there is no agreement as yet, that they will enter the pyramid, alongside the NCL.  My P&B post from last Sunday evening refers.

Just looking back for a moment.

This huge change all kicked off when Kelty Hearts packed in the Juniors for the EoS in summer 2017. They say revolutions take five years with years six and seven showing the result at its best. This seems like a revolution:

Year One: 2017 (for 2017/18):

Kelty Hearts move to the EoS and  win promotion to the Lowland League

Year Two: 2018 (for 2018/19):

Mass exodus from the East Juniors to the EoS  and Bonnyrigg Red Rose win promotion to the Lowland League.

Year Three: 2019 (for 2019/20):

Glenrothes and Kinnoull join the EoS. This strengthens the EoS in Perth and Fife. Bo'ness United expected to be promoted to the Lowland League (subject to gaining Licence).

Year Four: 2020 (for 2020/21):

A third Perthshire Junior club joins the EoS (Luncarty) plus seven Fife Juniors plus it is likely that a West Lothian club (Livingston Utd) will move later this month.

All 63 West Juniors move to the Pyramid in one go to form the WoS.

The Lowland Under 20's Development League more than doubles in size and includes seven clubs from Division Two of last season's West Junior League  (its' lowest division).

The North Caledonian League seems to be on the point of joining the Highland League part of the Pyramid.

Year Five: 2021 (for 2021/22):

Possibilities could be:

[a] Most, if not all, of the remaining eligible West Lothian Juniors move to the EoS ? Some newer sides may not meet the entry criteria?

The north of Tay Bridge Juniors go Senior as their own league and part of the Highland League Pyramid ?

[c] The North Juniors join the Seniors as part of the Highland League part of the Pyramid ?

[d] In the Highland Pyramid area there will not be compulsory promotion to the Highland League (and therefore relegations may be occasional rather than annual) ?

There is no sign that the HL wants a Tayside feeder. They only ever mention the north region and NCL on that. Luncarty has set the precedent that the Tay bridge boundary isn't relevant for EoS entry. All Tayside clubs could apply to the EoS and have the membership decide whether they get in just as West Lothian clubs can.

You know why Luncarty got in, the likes of Lochee will have to go north if they want to join the pyramid - as it should be.

Not yet they won't. Lochee can apply to the EOS, then it will be up to the existing clubs whether they are accepted.

I've said it several times before and I'll say it again. Luncarty was a complete red herring. Any team in Tayside can apply to the EOS.

^^^For anyone who sees things the JPL way, it's best to go on Fitba North to get the north of Stonehaven perspective.

They tend to view what gets posted on P&B about the pyramid as comically misinformed and the Tayside angle never rates a mention except to laugh at clueless P&B posters from the central belt. The narrative in P&J country only revolves around the north region juniors and NCL as HL feeders and the HL will need to sign off on any changes in tier 6 feeder terms.

Until recently the pyramid used to be largely ignored in HL circles but as with the west juniors there has been a sea change in attitudes. Having Brora publicly campaigning for SPFL entry would have been unthinkable a few years back.

That's right.

Do you consider that the EoS clubs would wish to include Dundee and Angus etc?

Even if any of that is remotely true, then why would anonymous opinion on one forum be worth anymore than the other? It's just opinion on the internet. Desperate posturing.

The fact is the HL/LL line remains in place, and until it is removed or reformed, then it's probably unlikely that the EoS would accept members from north of it (just an opinion). As has been widely reported, applications have been turned down in the past.

Therefore talk of Tayside clubs falling into the HL pyramid area and how that may be accommodated isn't "clueless" in the real world. As it stands, if they want to enter the Pyramid they have to look north, not south.

Doubt there is a uniform opinion on that. For some clubs a midweek game in Dundee is no problem at all, but for others it's a bit of a nightmare in travel terms. There is pressure building for the Club 42 boundary to be shifted north of Brechin, so it's the LL that might be more pivotal on this issue as that would place Tayside firmly in EoS territory unless all the parties involved were willing to sign off on a fourth tier 6 feeder.
