How is it at all feasible that not one member of staff, not one player in the dressing room, knew he was on holiday, or just back a holiday? He was on the bench for their opening fixture vs Hamilton. So was this a midweek trip, or was he away during preseason? Players got 2 days off after the Hamilton game he was back in training on Wednesday.

Presumably Celtic did and this is a breach of their code of conduct. Celtic need to be seen to be dealing with this, not a quiet word. It’s gross misconduct imo. He knowingly ignored the direction given by both club and government, knew the risks it carried to himself and his teammates and went away. It’s dishonest and put health and the game in general at risk, it’s unacceptable

So either the club was very lax and didn't act on the knowledge some of them must have had, or Bolingoli has very deliberately gone out of his way to cover up his trip and keep it secret. Not talking to his team-mates about it beforehand, not instagramming or all that other pish whilst there, not talking about it when he came back to training. If he has gone to those lengths, it is a very obvious sacking offence, you would have to think. A concerted, deliberate effort to get around the law of the land and purposefully keeping it a secret from the club because he didn't want to have to quarantine, or face the consequences from the club upon telling them. The club would surely have demanded he not go had he told them of his trip ahead of time. They need to interrogate their players to find out who, if any of them knew. Anyone who did know and didn't Lee Wallace on the boy is also going to have to be punished severely. At least if the club knew, they would have been able to keep him away from training and more importantly keep him away from the match day squad that went to Kilmarnock. The guy has put the health and safety of the staff and players of both clubs. If this was a mere ignorance from the player, if he had somehow managed to avoid the very well documented rules regards returning from Spain, then you don't imagine he would have worked hard to hide it and in those circumstances there's a good chance someone (s) at the club knew about it and failed to report or take appropriate action. If he has done this in full knowledge of the situation and gone out of his way to hide the trip, he needs punted.

I think what he is saying is, better not be too hard on this player just in case a first team player has done something similar. Disco30
He was a lot of things, but ineligible is not one of them. The football eligibility rules relate only to registrations and suspensions, not to government-imposed quarantines. It may have been illegal (or at least against guidance) for him to have been at Rugby Park in terms of the laws of Scotland, but there was nothing wrong with it in terms of the SPFL rules.Glad someone pointed this out. Bennett desperately trying to scramble a couple of points 2 games into a season that looks like it will struggle to be played to a finish already. People saying boli should be savked are hypocrites. If this was one of our better players theres no way this would be mentioned. The player will be punished , fined 2 weeks wages and made to adhere to the SG's guidelines in the future. Just hoping no other player breaks the rules or it really could see a stop to the football for a while all over again.

It doesn't matter why he went. If it genuinely was essential travel (not likely) then he would still need to isolate afterwards and been honest with the club. If the club knew and still played him then a points discussion should be put in place.

paul-r-cfc
Pretty scathing statement. All we can do is grovel at this point, and hammer him. We won't sack him, he'll get a hefty fine and club suspension, then he'll be frozen out the team in any case and if we sign another LB, then all going well, he won't be seen again until he's joining the lap of honour with the league trophy at the end of the season wearing a tracksuit and no medal.
