Arbroath v Queens Park

Very reliably informed that our physio is on holiday, and pre match it was agreed between both clubs the QP physio would treat both sets of players as and when required.

Seems at 2 down they threw the toys out the pram and went back on the agreement and didn't let their physio go on the park to treat Doris, which is a very cuntish thing to do in my opinion. Can see us making an official complaint off the back of this....

You were possibly as reliably informed by the same source that I was. The Chairman told quite a few fans as he was leaving the ground that what you said is the case. The Club tried to get a physio from an agency, but none were available so QP were approached and agreed for their physio to be available to both teams. Not ideal, but if they couldn't source a physio then an agreement from the opposition should be sufficient.

i actually had a conversation with the previous chairman about getting a physio, when I bumped into him when getting my season card last year. Seemingly there are very few suitably qualified physiotherapists in the Tayside area. Most are based in the central belt and are reluctant to travel this far on a Saturday just for a few hours. It is not just any physio that can be used as they have to be specifically qualified in sports injuries.

I don't believe for a second there was any agreement. Imagine a head clash with two opposing players on the deck and the QP physio has to choose between them. We might be amateur in status but our club and staff set-up is run to professional standards. You might also consider that as an employer AFC have a legal responsibility to ensure that their employees have proper risk assessments and properly trained first aid capability. If the referee reports the incident, as it delayed continuity of play, AFC might well find a chap at the door from the HSE.

So now you have that off your chest, anything at all about the performance of your team

Queen's Park fans refusing to believe there was an agreement in place, and essentially accusing our chairman of making up lies on the spot :lol:

Queen's Park fans asking 'where is the proof?' on a verbal agreement :lol:

This is the sort of weird denial and sweeping under the carpet that two other teams from Glasgow specialise in. I'd like to think QP are better than that.....

I wouldnt blame qp at all for physiogate, as said if we had an agreement there should have been a fee & contract agreed. Amature & embarrassing to have a player down without anyone to help. Hope the club learns from this & moves on

Back to the game.....

Hutton flapped at one in the second half, other than that had very little to do and distribution was good.
Defence were excellent and great work down the right especially first half.
Omar found plenty space and won lots of ball all game, just lacked a killer pass when the opportunity arose.
Yule looked accomplished in the middle of the park.
Doris was Doris, can't imagine many central defenders relishing playing against him. Skinned the queens number 2 who'd just moved more centrally 10 seconds earlier to set up 2nd goal.
Incidentally I didn't think it was a bad tackle on Doris, hard yes but not assault like some seem to think. Highlights may prove me wrong?
The only thing I'll say about physiogate is much like the queens performance it was rather embarrassing.........

First time I've ever seen a whole football crowd simply embarrassed. [emoji53]

He already gave his opinion on our performance in a previous post. Just to confirm, we were shite. I must have been away for a pie during this whole physio nonsense - to be honest couldn't bear to watch most of the second half, not sure how I didn't end up back in Tutties. Sounds a bit shoddy from both clubs

Early days though. Pretty sure we'll perform better next week

I've copied this from my previous post. As a product of the Cartoon Network generation you clearly didn't get past the first paragraph.

I am however grateful for having this nonsense, the failing sea fest and whatever was happening at The Den to help limit any discussion on the QP performance. Shame and embarrassment are my top emotions. After a promising LC we're back to long, high and slow balls from the back to frontmen who want the ball to feet. And a midfield left stranded 20 metres from the ball as a consequence. Significant difference when Duff and Big Green came on and we got bodies forward and passed the ball.

After watching the highlights I'd also add we were shite all over the park. No pressure at all on Maroons allowing plenty of time for setting up passes. By contrast, our guys were hunted in packs and forced to make errors. Your passing was crisper and sharper but you were given the time to do so. You kept your wide players near the touchline and created plenty from that. Our wing backs always seem to play too close to the centre backs and it allows several seconds for a winger to tee the ball up. You worked the ball back to front by playing through the zones, passing and keeping possession. We passed long, missing the midfield completely who were too deep to start and then couldn't get up to support the forwards. Wharton, Green the Younger, Burns, Brady and Galt get pass marks for trying. Duff looked impressive when he came on and Green the Elder created a bit of panic in the Lichties defence. The rest should be cleaning the showers with a toothbrush.

Ricky Little. Come back.

Excellent performance and excellent result. Great to get the season off to a winning start.

When I saw the team sheet I was a little surprised with the selection. Kadir starting with Pongo and Swankie on the bench. But the starting 11 did really well. I can't think of anyone who wasn't a 7/10 minimum today. Hutton wasn't really tested until very late on, so couldn't really give him a rating. The back 4 were solid and didn't seem at all challenged by the QP forwards. Whatley and Yule in the middle were winning most balls and their distribution was good all afternoon. Linn and Kadir were wide and DC kept on at them to stay out there as it was stretching the QP back line, leaving Doris and Denholm working against the back 3. Steve Doris is a beast! He is back to his best and my MoTM for his work rate, persistence and hold up work. He brings other players in to play so well and there is no doubt that the second goal was down to him, battling against the defender and not giving up. Such a shame that his header from Linn's cross hit the post.  Denholm was a close second for the MoTM and he looks like a really good prospect this season. He is fast, skilful and a very intelligent footballer.

i thought that the ref had a good game until the last 10 minutes or so. He wasn't looking when Doris got taken out by that shocking late challenge and then missed or mis-interpreted another couple of bad tackles late on.

Queens Park were disappointing and were quite dirty at times. How they only got 1 yellow card is astonishing. They kind of fit in with the character of their manager who seemed about to have a thrombo from the first minute! He seemed to be angry about everything and was getting more and more heated as the game went on. How on earth he expects his players to concentrate on their game when he is constantly micro-managing every move they make. Was funny in the first half when he berated the keeper for kicking it long instead of passing and the keeper shouted back "shut your fucking hole". You could see their players looking over at him and the coaching staff all the time to see if they were doing things correctly.

It was understandable for the fans to get annoyed and vocal, when Doris got injured. One of your star players is lying on the pitch injured and no one from the Club is coming to his aid. We now know that it why there was no AFC physio and QP backed out on the agreement to use theirs. It was frustrating to see that happening and made AFC look bad when we didn't know the facts. To be fair in hindsight, none of the Lichties players were waving for the physio to attend to Steve and it was as if they knew the injury wasn't really serious. I hear that the Club doctor examined him as soon as he came off and has judged that it is just bruising, so hopefully he will be ok for Airdrie next week.

so in conclusion, a positive start to the season with some very good performances all across the pitch, so much optimism for the next 9 months.

Come on Lichties!

I dearly hope for your sake, you win some games this season or it is going to be a long old season, as for the Cartoon Network watch it when my grandchildren are up from England and I have no clue about the "failing" Sea-Fest, never attended, but the event at herkie den looked like a roaring success

I never said you weren't better than that; I'm simply saying that sweeping things under the carpet/ denying them/ accusing others of lying/ basically ignoring the issue and refusing to take any sort of blame is how those '2 c***s' (very well put by yourself ;) ) fans behave all the time. QP fans are miles better than that, and I'm surprised by some ridiculous comments by your fellow fans. They're normally better than that.

you've heard one side of the story, assumed it is 100% accurate and gone to town with that. there are always two sides to a story, be intrtesting to hear what the qp side of the story is.

As for the game, we got what we deserved.

like a lot of lichtie fans was surprised not to see pongo start yesterday.yes yule and whatley done very well yesterday.but by leaving pongo out we defo lose a bit imagination and flair in the middle of the park

I understand what your saying but based on yesterday we can't change the midfield for the trip to Airdrie

I'd like to hear the QP side of this. What are the chances of it coming out?
