Don't know if it would sway them but it would certainly embarrass the powers that be if everyone that feels strongly that colt teams should not be allowed, wrote to Irn-Bru/Barrs saying that while sponsor money is very welcome by the clubs the competition was intended for. Supporters are now disappointed that it has been devalued in the last couple seasons which reflects badly on their company.

No need for this competition anymore, the change in format of the League Cup, the introduction of the colt teams has killed it off

Largely I agree with our smokie friend but if the LCC reverted to strictly a cup competition between the L1 and L2 clubs (plus some LL and HL teams) and very regionalised at first it might have some merit as almost everyone would have a chance of winning it. Regionalised to avoid excessive travelling costs and the possibility (probability?) of making a loss but the more you advance the more it would become interesting because after only a couple of rounds you start to think - hey, we are in with a shout. My club Montrose made it to the semi-final twice a few years ago and at that stage it certainly attracted more interest. Not as much as when we got to the semi-final of the League Cup but sadly those days will never return with the set up as it is in the SPFL now.

It's the "B" teams and drawn-out format which have been the issue.

People are split on the Irish/Welsh invitees, and crowds involving them hold-up OK... people are almost unanimously against the "B" teams, and those crowds have proven terrible.

It needs reworked/restored, not scrapped.

No, it needs to be put out of it's misery, no matter the format or the teams in it, the competition has no future

It was a perfectly good wee competition before they started the colt nonsense

Indeed. Plus it's the only cup a lower-league club has a chance of winning... indeed a part-time club has of even making a SF/Final, realistically... moreso now League Cup's sections & seedings. Plus early rounds occupy blank internationals weekends. Worked perfectly well.

There should be lower league football on international weekends, no need for league 1 and league 2, to not be playing matches this past weekend, so the challenge cup has to go

Agree totally with that, without setting the heather on fire the competition gave smaller teams a shot at glory, its only a couple seasons ago we had arguably our biggest if not the most important game since joining the league in a near sell out final at the national stadium. There have been a few teams that have done well in this that until that point probably did not rate it but a realistic chance of cup glory is not to be sniffed at. Colt teams should not be entertained in this or the league, Welsh & Irish teams are a bit of a novelty but the original format was what it was & provided us smaller clubs with a chance of glory.
