The man's 99% chance a total c**t, and everyone agrees. Not much of a topic. I thought the main sticking block in negotiations was the Irish language issue. Have I been misled by the anti Unionist MSM? Genuine question from an ignorant onlooker.

The goalposts seem to keep moving as regards the stumbling block and I almost suspect SF would be happy with the re-imposition of direct rule so that they would have a ready made scapegoat.

There is a lot more to it than the third most widely spoken language in NI.

Irish received official recognition in Northern Ireland, as well as protection and funding, under the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, with reference to the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, so they are inventing gripes to avoid governance and responsibility IMO. I would certainly support the opportunity for those who want to learn Irish to do so, but would prefer BOTH main parties to concentrate on getting back to work and focusing on housing, the NHS and jobs. Too many arseholes in power on both sides, perpetuating grievance politics and petty disputes.

I think you're right - the cries of outrage (in  English), the handwringing, the wailing, the gnashing of teeth, the spittle flecked statements. It would be spectacular.

Great Britain is a geographical reference when attached to the north of little Britain becomes a Union. Ireland is a country, as is Scotland

Shouldn't Northern Ireland have the right to self determination if the majority wish it?

And if the determination they make is that they'd rather stay within the UK?

Not sure I understand your point tbh. You asked whether NI has right to self determination.. I said of course. Staying in UK is not self determination in that context. NI will never vote to be independent so 2 choices.... 1) stay in UK or 2) 32 county republic. I favour option 2, which I would vote for in event of an all Ireland referendum.

He should be suspended from Sinn Féin, if he hasn't already been, and then most likely expelled. Such a needlessly antagonistic and brainless thing to do.
