Jacksgranda
Seamus Mallon's died. I know he's nothing to do with Sinn Fein but I'm posting it here anyway. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-51118009 I always preferred him to John Hume. -

Good to see you're maintaining your usual high standards. No representative from any political party has been particularly interested in that IRA murder until now. It wouldn't have anything to do with Fianna Fail and Fine Gael running scared of Sinn Fein in the Irish general election, surely? Perhaps you should direct your faux concern at them.

Great post, bang on. Murder was deplorable but funny how it's emerged again all over the press few days before GE. It probably wouldn't have been such a big deal if Murphy had kept his big gub shut back in 2007. However, he just had to show off his IRA connections creds. Glad it's bitten him on the arse, but it's dreadful for the Quinn family who are no further forward in their search for answers. And probably never will be, just like so many other victims' families.

welshbairn
Why did Sinn Fein only contest a limited number of seats?Think that due to the complexity of the system your candidates can end up competing against each other unless you get a shed load of votes, which they weren't expecting after their performance in the European and local elections.

Not if you organise your voters correctly: viz Highland Region - Merkinch: welshbairrn -1, old bitter and grumpy - 2; Longman: old bitter and grumpy -1, welshbairn -2, and so on and so forth. And Sinn Fein are particularly good at organising their voters, even the ones who are dead.

Sinners win a few extra seats in the South and somehow it's the end of the Sunday World. Chill Bros.
