Sergeant Wilson
Regarding earlier photos. It can't be Him McLean because that person is smiling. Jimmy Bond was never under 23, he was born as a 35 year old.

He was a bit of an arrogant sod , and some of the guys weren't too keen on him. He took us down to Paisley Racecourse for a kick about and he nutmegged a few of the lads , one of them didn't take too kindly to it and he waited his chance , a bouncing white mouldmaster in the centre circle gave him an opportunity and he blasted it off JDs mush , so much so that JD briefly had the mouldy dimples on his forehead , I kid you not !

No mention of hotel, which suggests either being transferred to airport after the game and lumping it until morning or scrambling in the city overnight before being transferred to the airport. Lot of Scottish clubs in international action that week: Tuesday: (Texaco Cup R1) Coventry 3-3 Motherwell (Texaco Cup R1) Ipswich 4-2 St Johnstone (Texaco Cup R1) Wolves 5-1 Kilmarnock Wednesday: (European Cup R1) Celtic 2-1 Rosenborg at Hampden due to Parkhead fire (Cup-Winners' Cup R1) Sporting Lisbon 2-1 Hibs (UEFA Cup R1) Aberdeen 2-3 Borussia Monchengladbach (UEFA Cup R1) Honved 1-0 Partick (Texaco Cup R1) Ayr Utd 0-0 Newcastle (Texaco Cup R1) Dundee 2-1 Norwich (Texaco Cup R1) Hearts 1-0 Crystal Palace (Texaco Cup R1) Leicester 1-1 Dundee Utd Interestingly the OF derby 3 days later was was also at Hampden at 12 noon... 50,416 watched it and but just 581 saw QP-Stranraer at 3pm.

Also we only started putting the badge on the strips in 1958 (two years before Stein joined). We reverted to white shorts in 1962 and kept them until 1968. Where are you getting all of these photos from? They're tremendous. Edited June 15 by DA Baracus
