After the way Ross McCrorie was treated when here you can’t really blame Robby/his family for not wanting to come here.

I’ve heard this banded about a few times without ever really being full explained.

What is it that happened to Ross?

Surely if the boy really didn’t want to come it would’ve been made clear weeks ago?

He’ll likely not get much of a say in the matter. His family definitely won’t get any input.

Different player. Might relish the challenge. Maybe gets spurned on by negativity. Though I don't believe that he has better options than a championship team on the cards.

The situation we’re in has nothing to do with his desire to either come or not.

Is it slavery or football we're talking about here.

Young players like McCrorie will be told they’re going out on loan and won’t get much of a say in it. It’s not a punishment it’s there to benefit the player. As for the destination it’ll be picked for them and they’ll get on with it.

I remember Paddy Boyle saying in an interview that Jack Ruddy never really socialised with any of the Ayr players and he reckoned it’s because he didn’t want to be there but Wolves told him he was being loaned out regardless.

Alright lads, I hope you're all well.

I recorded a podcast with erstwhile Ayr skipper Scott McLaughlin. We spoke with him back in 2015 but, by his own admission, he was "a bit cagey", so here's some full and frank discussion about his two spells with the club. I think you might find it of interest.

Oh good, I was looking to find the definition of the word: p***k.

I never had any problem with McLaughlin at Ayr. Decent in his first spell but less so when he returned. Wouldn’t go so far as to call the guy a p***k.

Aye I’m not really getting the McLaughlin hate. I loved him in his first spell when it was him and Ryan McCann in the middle. He wasn’t very good in his second spell but I can’t say I dislike him.

The only ex Ayr United players that I have any sort of dislike towards is Johnny Tiffioney and Darren Brownlie although I suspect Gary Harkins will get dogs abuse at Somerset this season.

It's his attitude. I hate it. Ryan mccann was a good player though.

One of my top memories is the cup tie away to hibs where we scrapped hard and earned a draw (leading to the replay win with the beautiful mark Roberts solo effort).

McLaughlin was immense that day.

Wattoo  your post brought back memories to me I'm sure you'll enjoy this

Im coaching Ayr Boswell  under 15 many years ago and we were needing players, one of the players brought along his pal who stayed in alloway and as we were desperate we gave him a trial, first game against Beith who were a big side especially there captain who was a bear.

Im not expecting much from the trialist as he was a small wiry lad but 15 minutes into the game he  is showing he can really play a bit and then goes in to a 50/50 with the bear and absolutely destroys him resulting in a broken nose for the bear. I look at my assistant and go what have we found here, the bear goes off to get treatment and comes back on  like a raging  bull looking for the trialist  another 50/50 and again the bear comes second and from then on keeps well away from the trialist.

After the game I say to the player we want to sign him and commented how I was surprised how tough a guy he was coming from alloway, and he pipes up oh I may come from alloway  now but I grew up in Glasgow think it was Easter house scheme and that explained a lot.

He went on to sign for Ayr united at 16 his name DUNCAN GEORGE

I think McLaughlin being one of the first out the door under McCall will tell you all you need to know about his influence in the dressing room under Roberts. Roberts done no wrong and everything was rosey.

Didn't Roberts get help with Recruitment from McLaughin? I think if both had stayed at that time, Ayr would have been relegated.

He said in his interview that McCall wanted to keep him and it was due to a falling out between Roberts and Davie White that he wanted away.

Don’t know how true it is. Does sound like he’s trying to convince himself that that’s the case by constantly saying McCall tried to sign him earlier in his career.

I highly doubt a player would be helping the manager with recruitment.
