diegomarahenry Posted June 19, 2023 Share Posted June 19, 2023 Dundee United signing Doc is a strange one. He's not premier league standard and normally misses 2 months of the season with injuries. He is a very good Championship midfielder. Like when Kilmarnock came down, signing good championship players doesn't mean you will walk the league and it also means you'll struggle next season because you have a championship standard team on all on two and three year deals. I think one of their main issues last season was being too soft in central midfield and having no one to do the def defensive side of the game - Docherty immediately fixes that for them and is one of the best in the league in that role. Whether you take P&B to be representative of the wider support or not (I'd agree that people here typically have stronger opinions), that seemingly a majority of people don't seem to be very bothered with the potential departure of a manager who led the club to its most successful season since Saddam Hussein still had a palace is certainly noteworthy.
