welshbairn
My mother has insisted in being called "Mother" for as long as I can remember. When I call out for her I feel like Anthony Perkins in "Psycho".

It's common for southern USA'ians, male and female, to use "My Momma' and 'My Daddy' through their entire lives. Even worse is when they say 'Pappy', which sounds like something a baby does after it's been fed. Makes me grind my teeth, even when it's someone like Elvis Presley. They'll be laughing with their mammy about the Scottish guy their cousin or whatever has got involved with who calls his grandad papa.
