Good point. It would be interesting to know how they restarted the game.

https://streamja.com/N0ej - restarted with a free kick to Huddersfield! The Cardiff player got a yellow but the Huddersfield player had already held him and pushed him over before their heads came together (can see it on MOTD).

This really is a car crash of a thread

It’s so bad it’s good Lichtie.

You’ve got the SNP voters keen to shoot English football at every opportunity,  all those with English clubs as their big team who they used to refer to as ‘we’ tiptoeing around and then you’ve got the deafening silence of the Lolverpool squad ...

Up the Premier League thread ... :D

It turned into a bit of a struggle at Anfield today. Liverpool deserved to take the lead and it looked like another comfortable win would follow but Brighton hung in there and could have snatched a point. Liverpool haven’t conceded at home in the Premier League for over 6 months though, or at all this season and 1 goal was enough.

3 wins out of 3 and top of the (very) early  league table. It has been a good start :).

Roll on Leicester away and an early start next Saturday.

That incident was to me a classic example of how they're using VAR wrongly.  We get all those hold ups as the ref goes to see the incident on a screen because he supposedly has to see what happened as he must always have the final decision.  However, when VARless, he's fine with taking the word of his lineman when he didn't see the incident, like this one where he had his back to it, and acting accordingly.  Can't really see the difference between that and a video assistant telling him in his ear what action to take as he hadn't seen an incident. Just take his word and get on with it, no faffing around with pitchside screens needed.

There's nothing stopping that from happening, it's up to the referee whether he goes for an on-field review or not. For offside decisions or off the ball incidents then there's no need - but for things that the referee has already seen (e.g. where he's given a yellow but VAR thinks it should be red) or a less clear cut off the ball incidents then the referee might want to see the replay.

Fair enough.  The should just listen to the guy with the better view and get on with it though imho.

Am I imagining it, or do Liverpool seem to play a disproportionate games on a Saturday evening?

I’ve had a look back and you are right Accie ... had 3 of them at Anfield towards the end of last season, Newcastle, Watford and Bournemouth.

Do Watford always play the theme from Z Cars? Thought that was just an Everton thing.

Yes they do. Although can only speak about hearing it there for games against Liverpool could be a noise up

Obviously it's working for them at the moment, but the goalkeepers on display today were brutal. Foster isn't a patch on Gomes IMO and Hennessey is the worst keeper in the league, have Palace not just signed a keeper from La Liga?!

Palace have signed Vicente Guaita from Getafe. To be fair to Hennessy he was very good at the end of last season and also played pretty well in the first 2 games this season. I don`t particularly rate him but can understand why Hodgson has kept faith with him.
