So the good folk of Birmingham can look forward to better services and lower taxes! (Isn't that what the Tories usually say in the HoC whenever the subject of local government comes up?)

Labour to stick with Rishi Sunak’s diluted targets on phasing out gas boilers | Financial Times (ft.com) Quote Labour will not reverse Rishi Sunak’s changes to the phaseout of fossil fuel boilers, the party said on Thursday, in a sign of the acute political sensitivities around heating policy. A spokesperson for Ed Miliband, the shadow climate secretary, confirmed the opposition party would follow Sunak in weakening UK targets for moving households to lower-carbon heating alternatives.
btb
Why are Labour still matching every populist/rightwards step by the Tories -surely after Truss trashed the economy they shoulda said no further?

Only when the Daily Mail says no further. They should give up the pretence and install Viscount Rothermere in Downing Street

I genuinely believe it’s Starmer’s natural position, and he’s surrounded himself with shadow ministers that broadly share his view. Starmer, like Blair, is not a socialist; he’s barely a progressive. He shouldn’t be in the Labour Party let alone leading it.
KirkieRR
This is baffling - because the Wibble Democrats are scared to mention Brexit, they are losing pro-EU voters to Starmer's MAKE BREXIT WORK! oneteaminglasgow
Seriously, how mental does a government policy need to be for Labour to say they’d undo it?

carpetmonster
I’ve no idea why I’m surprised, but GB News have a stall booked at the Labour conference. I’ll be more surprised if this bloke’s call to have them emptied gets any sort of answer
btb
Starmer ditches Labour policy on removing the charitable status of private skoolz - will that gain them any extra votes or is it to spare the blushes of the Shadow Cabinet?

Just saw that. It's as if Sir Kid Starver has been going through all his policies to weed out anything radical or different to the Tories. Labour are stomach-churning. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-66942985
