Bad news in Dundee with 850 jobs being lost. Workers received a text message to tell them the bad news. Another major jobs blow in Dundee. I know a few guys who have done 20 plus years in there. I’m sure they got a grant of around £4.5 million last year as well. Feel sorry for all of the workers

Think this has been mentioned in another thread. Sounds like tough conditions for tyre manufacturers. Hopefully the people who work there get a decent package, sounds like they should.

Rangers fans live for thriving on misery of others, and the success of Rangers.

Basically real life Alan Partridges.

Wouldn’t worry, at the rate they're losing money their club will probably be dead (again) before Michelin closes.

(I was thinking of a Rangers/Goodyear jibe but it’s difficult)

Know a fair few who work their. Meeting lasted 7 minutes and finding out via the tv rather than their boss the day before. Not so good.

Yep same here know few guys who work in there. Dundee pretty fuked now eh [emoji15]

I saw on the news that Michelin said it was due to a drop in the need for the type of tyres made there? Do they do specialist stuff or is it normal car tyres?

Good article here on it. They were caught between having to overspecialise and being beaten on price on ordinary mass production tyres. Possible that Brexit was the last straw.
