Doubt Rose would go to Coventry with their record of financial problems.

According to their fans page it's a done deal.

The degree of negativity I am reading here is crazy but all too believable. Footy fans, and especially Ayr fans,  are basically bipolar. Either everything looks rosy or the sky has fallen in.

Cup games are the cherry on the season's cake, nno more. One teams glory has to be another teams humiliation - we've done over bigger teams repeatedly and nothing came of it to impact the longer term League form. There is a total disconnection between the two. The  same should apply here in reverse, despite the fact that it is too soon after the funeral to see that.

This lengthy run without a win will end and, as others have said, the longer the slump continues the more unlikely it is to see where the next win will come from but come it will - and may as well be Friday night as any other. Either way nothing will improve by fans staying away or giving the team a hostile reception - if we end up getting beaten then save it until the final whistle if you  must.

Sunday's sports pages are just fish supper wrapping. Every game is a chance of redemption to a team that will be burning to put in a good performance. Bring it on.

I'm struggling to remember a time as Ayr fans when everything has looked rosy or even when the sky has fallen in. We're always somewhere in between the two. There's always an expectation when we are doing well that it will all go wrong, and if we play shite and lose then it's probably expected. It's that way because it is what we are used to.

Saturday however was the mother of all defeats. And having witnessed some shocking defeats over the years that is quite a statement. That said the anger will subside and by Friday the usual suspects will be back cheering on the team.  The supporters of any team at our level would have reacted in the same way.

Some may stay away, but I doubt any will give the team a "hostile" reception.

Friday night, under the lights,
It's time to put things right.
The cup defeat, was hard to beat,
We lost it by a street.
The players must show the way to go,
The hurt we feel they know.
A win is a must, regain our trust,
Go back top or go bust.
The Arabs will be, out for all 3,
So therefore so must we.
So come on Ayr, let's see some flair,
And lift all the despair.

I sympathise with Rabbie Burns as in his grave he turns and turns.

T’was a horror show the last time out,

On that fateful Friday night,

When Mccall’s Marauders gave a masterclass,

And The Terrors were fucking shite.

The early goal caught us right off guard,

And was a major fucking blow,

And weeks of Ayr frustration,

Was released in the Shankland Show

Will it be like that this time round,

This remains to be seen,

With Ayr’s squad fucked with injuries,

As threadbayr as it’s ever been.

Come Friday - expect  a Tangerine wave,

As Pav his hat-trick he hunts

And all that’s left for us Arabs to say

Is c’mon United - Get intae these c***s

Strangely looking forward to this now! I’m obviously assuming the first twenty minutes will see us playing at a high tempo and flying into tackles etc.

None of that rhymes.  :(

Shankland, Forrest, Adams and Kerr all rated as 'doubtful' for Friday night.

Excellent, I think I'll get rattled in to the 2/1 on offer just now.

Thanks for the heads up...i'm all over that like a rash :)

They've actually just been cut, 13/8 - 7/4 is the best now available on United. We are priced around 6/4 for the win.

I'll still be there cheering us on but fear the worst if we're still without our key players and if we've failed to sign anyone.

Let's be honest, the next 2 matches against United & Inverness are massive so surely if we're going to get anyone in, now would be the time, so we had them available for these matches.
