skippy2015
McGregor,.Jack, mcLean, Armstrong and Fleck. Only one of them is a defensive midfielder too, and Brown is way better than him.Mctominay is our best defensive midfielder and is a level above brown

People just think he is cause he's tall. He's the best we have at that but it's a bit of a waste of his talents.

I'd argue only McTominay and McGinn are definitely better than him as a footballer too. Your starting midfield 3 would be McTominay/McGinn/Brown? You said he would walk into the team. -

Agree he could be deployed as a box to box midfielder for us. But we have them. We need a defence mid and he's excellent at it.

Jeremiah Cole
Yes he would, we don't have any other defensive midfielders except Jack and Brown is better. Ber, except for Scott McTominay obviously
Jeremiah Cole
Mctominay isn't a defensive midfielder. People just think he is cause he's tall. Yes he is.People just think he is because that’s the position he plays.
Jeremiah Cole
He's not playing as an out an out defence mid at man u currently. So if McTominay hasn’t been Man United’s defensive midfielder this season, who has?
Marshmallo
"Defensive midfielder" is a massive misnomer when it comes to players like Ryan Jack or Scott McTominay. Neither of them are doing a Makelele type role. They're box to box midfielders. We need balance and fluidity in midfield, not a rigid "you don't cross the halfway line" and "you have a free role" type set up. Some sort of combo of Jack/McGregor/McTominay/Fleck/McGinn gives us that. Brown would too btw but not because he is a "defensive midfielder". -

He can play like that tho, the guys adaptable and an excellent player.
Old Bing
Mctominay was playing as a forward or attacking mid till he came into the utd first team.

Bonksy+HisChristianParade
Fleck is currently a key midfielder in a top half Premier League team - pretty obvious he’s a better player than Scott Brown at the moment.

grazza
Is Scott Brown then not making himself available for the play off? That's one thing if he did but if he doesn't and we did qualify the absolutely no chance. We have known for a year we have these play offs and it would be unlikely we would finish in top 2 and very quickly that we would definitely need these play offs. If in that time he has made no indication that he would make himself available in 2020 then how much does he really care? That all being said is he any good at centre back?
