Ye Olde Hamiltonian
Accies fans are split on this with some saying he isn't the same player as before his bad injury(pre season will be vital for him methinks) while the majority are angry he has again joined a club who will be competing and scrapping in the same area of the League. Me:he can go fcuk himself...saying that knowing Scottish football,he will train with St.Mirren and then sign for us last day of the transfer window.
Red Barry
St. Mirren obviously offering better wages. For some that's all that matters.
yummy fur
Disappointing but he certainly wasn’t the player that he was in his first spell (although he did improve for the last few games). I wonder what the narrative on Twitter would have been if Canning had still been manager and Andreu had turned down a new deal in favor of St Mirren?
djchapsticks
Personally, I'm quite happy to see us going for a player that opposition fans are a bit miffed at the prospect of losing out on. He absolutely tortured us at times when he was a Dundee Utd player. Edited July 1, 2019 by djchapsticks
Laid-back Accie
Absolutely gutted, didn't mind him signing for United as it was a different league and it was our own fault we ended playing them in the play off. St Mirren will obviously be our direct competition next season, and he knows that, especially since we no doubt offered him a deal, very disappointing.

It's bizarre: first we appoint a manager that nobody's immediately ripping the piss out of, and now we're (hopefully) nicking a player that our relegation rivals aren't happy about losing. At least we've had some bad news today re Mihai or it'd all be getting a bit too positive for my own comfort.
YER SISTERS YER MAW
Would have been more than happy if Tony re-signed but that's football. Don't really blame him as Accies likely offered him a pittance and most people would have done the same if offered more money elsewhere to help pay the bills. He wasn't quite the same player last season as he was in our 1st spell at the club but still that one player in our team who had the vision to pick out a pass to set up a goal. That's something we'll have to address before the season starts. Hunt coming in has convinced me even more that Shena's been signed to play centre half this season. With another scouser at the club, we seem to be turning into that there 'amilton!
Im_Rodger
Serious question how do St Mirren have more money than us? Fan run club that has been down in the Championship the past few years. Stadium in an absolute dump. How on earth can that be more lucrative than playing for an established Premiership team in the greatest part of Scotland? Football makes little sense sometimes.

Im_Rodger
Tony won't be laughing when he'll be stuck jumping between 11th and 12th all season.

Im_Rodger
St Mirren were lucky that there was a diabolical Dundee side in the league. St Mirren are a championship side that is punching above their weight. Natural order will be restored in 2020/2021.

Yeah St Mirren's odds will shorten very fast once actual football is played.
accies1874
Spot on regarding Tony.Yeah, a creative player is a must. Still loads of time obviously. Is midfield the weakest area of the team? Central defence looks decent numbers wise but very inexperienced. Interesting few weeks ahead.I think there are a few decent options in midfield, but a '10' is needed to actually make it a decent midfield unit:Alston, Gogic, MacKinnon, Mimnaugh and Martin. Boyd, Collar and Hughes are options too, although Collar may have been signed as a backup to McGowan.
