Linlithgow Rose - 2019 onwards

Talking to one of vol players dad. His laddie and a few others were loanees. Asked him if their manager was an ex player. He didn't know but said he thought he was ex edin untd ( watch the back door ) manager. The laddie comes from musselburgh. That's some travelling every 2nd week or so.

Musselburgh to Innerleithen is 28.5 miles 45 mins according to Google  no different going from Glasgow to linlithgow

Highly unlikely as a few LL teams won't have failed to notice the quick demise of recently relegated teams.

Eventually though LL clubs that wouldn't be able to hack it in the EoS premier after being relegated will be gone and will have been replaced by clubs that will see the benefit in being able to bounce back again more easily.

Ian Flynn was with WW 20s before getting the job at Edinburgh Utd.

Its not as if he's totally unknown among EoSFL circles.

Not sure what your problem is with the travelling.

The conveyor belt of previous managers havent exactly been Borders based either.

The Borders has a history for the best players wanting to stay amateur and play local wi their pals. Between that and trying to compete wi Gala makes managing the Vale a tough gig for anybody.

it's easier to get players to travel when winning games, would imagine a few Linlithgow players have to travel a fair bit each week to get to games.

Vol train in Edinburgh that makes it a bit easier I suppose. But not if you stay past Innerleithen southwards. And the M8 or 9 isn't like the roads going down to Innerleithen.

Cammy Thomson lives in Blairgowrie - that's a fair trek 3 times a week.

Just thought it was a bit of a treck 2 or 3 times a week. But the dad then said they train in Edinburgh. So probably only travel once a fortnight mostly.

What a road it is though. Views for days!

We came back an unofficial road I think lol. Went to Gorebridge and not another car on it hardly. And must be the smoothest road in scotland. Not a pothole to be seen. And it was quicker.

A signing out of nowhere.

Young lad wi bags of potential, good wi the ball at his feet and can play anywhere not just centre half.

Disappointed to see him go. Good luck to the lad.

Everyone else goes Melrose then A68 out of Gala, apparently it’s quicker!

Leaves the A7 (to Gorebridge) nice and quiet for a gentle cruise home.

I really felt for VoL as they were totally out their depth and the gulf was far greater than the final result.

So it was to their credit that they didn't resort to dark arts or stop trying to play the game in the right way.
