Sir Tarmo Kink
Pots 1 and 2 look strong but 3 and 4 look quite weak overall compared to normal. A few good teams in the lower pots though which could cause a ball-ache. For example Liverpool could get something like Benfica, Zagreb and Genk. Or they could get Real/Atleti, Lyon/Inter or Atalanta/Lille.

Rab B Nesbit
Alisson Becker's stunning displays that helped Liverpool lift the European Cup have seen him crowned UEFA Champions League Goalkeeper of the Season for 2018-19. The Brazilian's first campaign with the Reds ended in triumph as he was part of the side that beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Madrid final back in June. He played every minute of Liverpool's route to glory and recorded six clean sheets in the process. Alisson pulled off a brilliant injury-time save against Napoli to secure a spot in the last 16 and then made a number of crucial interventions to thwart Tottenham in the final. The 26-year-old pipped Hugo Lloris and Marc-Andre ter Stegen to the accolade, which he received during Thursday's draw for the 2019-20 group stages in Monaco. -
Rab B Nesbit
Virgil van Dijk has been named UEFA Champions League Defender of the Season for 2018-19. The centre-half was handed the award in Monaco on Thursday during the draw for the group stages of Europe's premier club competition. Van Dijk beat Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold and Matthijs de Ligt to the accolade after helping the Reds win the European Cup for the sixth time. The 28-year-old played all but one match of the team's run to the Madrid final, where he was named Man of the Match in the victory over Tottenham Hotspur. -

Tartan Dave
Big teams get such an advantage in qualifying for the tournament that surely we could go to an unseeded group-stage. I imagine this would throw up some belting groups and give the odd smaller side a better chance at progression

The whole point of the Champions League is to see who the best side in Europe is, what is there to gain by having a couple of diddy sides getting an easy draw through to the later stages only to get hammered by the big guns? Last season's quarters and semis were fantastic, great teams with nothing between them results in great games and drama.
