Especially as one team will be idle with Kinnoull/Leith still to be played, and Qualifying Cup or King Cup games are also on the fixture list.

GNU_Linux
Regarding the name of the cup is it named after somebody or is there another origin?

Sandy Jack of Postal United was long-standing EOS secretary from half a century ago. His sons still present the trophy. Strictly-speaking it's the "Alexander Jack Memorial Trophy", IIRC. EDIT: Back in history there was also the Tom Dodds Trophy - apparently he was from the Edinburgh City Police club and also Jack's predecessor - which was briefly used for a League Cup during the 1960s, then became the trophy for the old Edinburgh equivalent of the Tennent's Sixes at Meadowbank, then the Fair Play Trophy but is apparently now lost. EOS League Cup trophy was replaced last season: it's predecessor was donated by Civil Service Strollers and named in memory of someone but I forget who it was. After the EOS League got reorganised in 1987 the League Cup was introduced to provide more games, and the Alex Jack the following season for clubs not playing in the Scottish Cup. Finally - and contrary to common assumption - the King Cup is so called not for his majesty nor as it's foremost among cups, but as it was donated by the owner of a chain of Victorian sports shops called Percival King. He also donated the original Junior Cup and a number of other Scottish football trophies. Edited September 8, 2019 by HibeeJibee
