gordon9736
Just thought, new season, new post. Anyone else happy that City have gone back to wearing 1-11 on their shirts rather than squad numbers?
Thom & Gerry
As should all teams.
Briggsy's Ghost
Not sure why every team at this level doesn’t stick to 1-11 given the turnover of players etc... A few months ago I feared this seasons thread would be a rather depressing place but we look a pretty good team if we can keep most players fit!

Muzza81
Seeing as it’s relevant. Centre backs: 4 and 5 or 5 and 6? There is only one correct answer.
afca32
5 + 6. 4 is for a central midfielder.
WeAreElgin
4 should never be a central midfielder, ever. Makes absolutely no sense
Briggsy's Ghost
Never understood why it’s 5+6 - guessing it came about from some old formation where the 4 eventually went into midfield. Some of the best ever centre half’s have played number 6! Edited August 6, 2019 by Briggsy's Ghost
Super Elgin City
Hibs Colts 3-4 Elgin City from Easter Road. Another great result for the boys with an injury time Cooper winner.

Thom & Gerry
Billy Bremner was 4. Bobby Moore was 6 end of argument
Briggsy's Ghost
Bit more modern - Patrick Vieira 4 and one of the greatest, Baresi 6.
Highland ITFC
Daniel Mackay (goal scoring wide midfielder) & Daniel Hoban (keeper) in on loan from ICT until the turn of the year. Mackay has the potential to add something, but suspect that Hoban will be McHale's warm up partner & a bench warmer, or should be anyway given McHale's form
Highland ITFC
And suspect that Mackay coming in may be an end to the rumours of a return from Archie
MorayCup
Feel it will be harsh on McHale if Hoban went straight into the team. Mackay certainly sounds a promising addition, wasn't he hailed as the next big thing a couple of seasons ago? Sounds a good replacement after O'Keefes injury anyway. Hadn't heard the rumours about Archie, that would have been an interesting addition. Congrats to Rabin on his call up to Iraq U23's, although gonna be prove to be a huge pain to us if he continues to get call ups Edited August 9, 2019 by MorayCup
ICTChris
McKay is our youngest ever scorer and he came off the bench several times during our strong finish to season 2017/18 and had an impact. He's also played internationally for Scotland Under 19s. He's had a few injuries though and his first team chances were limited last season, obviously we want him to get game time but think that including him in the 'Fort William 9' wouldn't test him enough. I've not been to as many games as I'd have liked the last couple of sesaons but I did go to the Irn Bru cup final and he changed the game when he came on and set up the eventual winner for Tremarco. He's a livewire, although he is very young so expectations need to take that into account.
WeAreElgin
Desperately hoping that Hoban isn't just there to go straight in as #1. McHale looks like a class goalkeeper and would hate to think that he'll be relegated to the bench just to accommodate another loan signing. Healthy competition please!

Knowing both of them I would say that Thomas is comfortably the better keeper. Hoban will keep him on his toes though, which is how it should be
Thom & Gerry
Not sure where I heard it but I’m sure at the start of the season there was something about Mchale wanting to return south for employment reasons but could not get out of his contract obligations with Elgin?
gordon9736
I would hate to think that City would hold someone to a contract if the person wanted to move away due to work issues. I was under the impression that the club got Shane a job at Johnstons which he left after a couple of days.
