Ayr United v Alloa Athletic

Recommended Posts

Played better with the wingers (although that wouldn't be hard to do).

First half was very good and promising, thought Mccowan, Kelly and Forrest were the best players. Second half the final ball was lacking from Houston especially. Awful from Muirhead at the end.

You can have Craig Moore in January, Partick.

Wasn't at the game but thought on seeing the team that it was a strange decision on a day when we were already missing the experience of Flannigan and Dick to throw in a teenager for his first start, and with Buchanan and Thomson on the bench. Then the youngster gets hooked at half-time. Looks like a questionable use of our already depleted numbers. Will be interested to hear what the Wasps who were there have to say.

That's way too harsh on Moore, no matter how bad a game he had.

Him going would be a big blow to our team and our squad, but we'd cope. He's not great at this level but does a job.

No Doolan in the side again. I’m now convinced he’s just not wanting to play as not wanting to get an injury that would scupper his fairytale move back to Thistle.

He has an ankle injury and only doing light training , saying that he is no loss

We've persisted with him enough, his work rate was terrible today, jogging the way through.

Need to stop trying to walk it into the net, McCowan especially. Having Bell back is a big plus, even Muirhead looked more composed, for the most part. Need to be able to attack crosses into the box better, missing out on a lot of potential goals. Kelly playing that bit more forward made a lot of difference and Harvie & Forrest on the wing caused a lot of problems

A lot to like about today. Defence seemed a lot more solid although Alloa offered very little until the scored that goal out of nothing.

The passing moves were a joy to watch and had Moffat maybe been playing we would’ve had an extra element and might’ve scored a couple more.

McCowan and Forrest will cause any defence in this league major problems and both of them were supported well with Houston and Harvie.

The only complaint is we could’ve racked up a few more goals and improved our GD but I’ll take any win that halts our slump.

Totally agree with all of this.

Forrest and McCowan both very good and our passing game was back. We should have won comfortably but a world class save from Doohan at the end ultimately secured the three points.

We just look far better when Kerr plays and Forrest and McCowan run off one another plus Bell steadies us at the back.

Moore didn't have his best game today but would still rather he stays, on the plus side McKenzie looks capable of performing at this level should Moore and Doolan both move on.

Anyway, four points from six this week not a bad haul considering the weather and our recent form dip, so all good again...................

Agree with all of this - I thought Harvie was excellent today.

Don’t sell Kelly in January please.

Can't see it happening.  He's in the right place and is one of our successful loanees this season.  Plus he doesn't look that short given you're not exactly the tallest team in the championship.

A much needed 3 points today! I was calling for Kerr's head after Arbroath, and I stand by that. The performances had been rank rotten. Today though we looked like the Ayr United we've been used to seeing. McCowan and Forrest playing well, passing it about, winning the 2nd ball. On another day we could have scored 5. I'm no manager, but surely it's not that difficult to motivate the players to keep doing what they've been doing previously? Same players. Same ability. Hopefully that gets some more fans back for QotS in a couple weeks, and it certainly makes me more optimistic for Dundee United away next week! COYA!

Kerr admitting there that he got it wrong on Tuesday night and wished he hadn't over thought his team selection so much. At least he learnt from that quickly and got the win today.
Not listened to it yet but that's brilliant. And it's great he has the confidence to start himself. We've missed him badly in previous weeks!

That is absolutely fantastic to hear. So many managers just wouldn't admit it, and stick with their 'philosophy' but we have a style of play that works in this league - stick to it, and we will win more than we lose and look attractive in the process.
