She said without it there is no way out of constant restrictions. All eggs in one basket. I've even seen a few (seemingly) respected virologists being concerned a out the gap between doses. Their argument is that if they were going to attempt to give a virus resistance to a vaccine, the way to do it would essentially be to give a weaker version of the disease, and let the virus work on it over a long-ish period of time. Their point is that by splitting the doses farther apart than they're meant to be, we might be doing this. I don't have nearly enough knowledge in the subject to tell if this should be a genuine concern, or if its the ravings of some borderline nutcases. Either way, I guess its worth mentioning.

Test and Trace has already cost £22b and has been such a roaring success... No doubt people who had been vaccinated would go get a test if they caught a cold a few months down the line as well I think because even at 2 million a week, the models suggest that isn't enough to get ahead of the virus at the current level of spread. So it's important still to trace those that are able to spread it amongst the unvaccinated. Eidt: I didn't see it, but this seems to be what they're talking about. She does mention elimination though which won't go down well here. Edited January 5, 2021 by madwullie

But that's not remotely the same as saying "without it there is no way out of constant restrictions." Once we have vaccinated those in the at risk groups, it's not needed.

It was doing that thing where it wouldn't embed the tweet Edit I dot think there was any mention of no wya out of restrictions, just that T&T would still be good to have Edited January 5, 2021 by madwullie
D.A.F.C
TTI doesn't work because sick pay and social securities are totally inadequate for people in low paid insecure work. This is the world people voted for for a decade. The leopard is sinking its teeth into people's faces. That's not testing though that's shitty employers and political reasons. The government could sort that easily and be cheaper than furlough. They made everyone homeless secure overnight. It can be done.

D.A.F.C
Wonder why they aren't then.I dont disagree with you but testing works. How is China out of lockdown with hardly any cases. They tested 10 million people after 13 corona cases. We are testing 13 people for 10 million cases.[emoji38]I'm sure china has amazing employment law right enough.

Couldn’t be me! Yes, they have been letting people in for quite a while now, however, everyone must stay in a state quarantine (hotel) as you say for 14 days, no matter how long they are here in total. Also having to have 3 negative test within those 14 days, or off to hospital you go (and your paying) even if have zero symptoms and are feeling fine... Most of the people arriving are businesspeople, folk with family, workers with work permits (these are the legal ones), most have been Thais being repatriated. The numbers have been small, about 1000 a day (that's just a guess). Also lot's and lot's of hoops to jump through just to get on the plane.
D.A.F.C
It does work though. Against new strains? Its 70% effective and should stop you becoming seriously ill. You can still spread the disease though. It will eventually work and is the most effective way out long term but testing must be done alongside. Every single expert is saying this. -
Steven W
Feels like it's gearing up for March 23rd 2021 to work out as an important (positive) date in all this
D.A.F.C
Because in China they locked people in their houses and delivered food to them until they were free of the virus. Not during the testing phase I was on about.

D.A.F.C
Your BCG Jag is 70% effective but nobody dies of TB anymore. Stop catastrophising. I know you get a buzz from being wrong/outnumbered but honestly just hing it up, it's not good for you.So testing in China hasnt worked?I dont agree with your strawman arguement. Rather than explaining why testing doesn't work youve got personal because you cant back up your arguement.
dirty dingus
Nearly every drama queen I know have said they have had the virus(most before it was even known to be in the country) if they are going to be short of vaccines wouldn't it be wise to do some antibody testing to see if a lot of folk have built up immunity. Also they have went really quiet on whether you can catch it twice stuff. I remember a couple of reports of re infection but this was in early testing so may have been false positives. Gaz
If Gove is admitting that it's unlikely restrictions will be lifted in mid-February, and that includes schools, I can see them being closed for longer than the 1st February up here too.

I'm sure I read the test to see if you had it loses efficacy after 3 months?
