Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Not Parkrun, but interesting all the same (interesting in that England exploring these things, and Scotland  still doing the square root of f**k all)

Can't be too careful. There might be an as yet undiscovered couch to 5k variant that we don't yet know about.

In the gym last night. Mobbed with no one wearing masks and little distancing. Glorious to see.

Whilst it is good to see things reopening and the majority of people being positive about it, rather than handwringing about a third wave, personal stories like this https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/apr/27/donna-coleman-died-after-covid-ran-riot-at-burnley-college-should-it-have-been-open highlight the need to keep the pressure on the government to hold a full public inquiry into their handling of the pandemic.

These two posts are a perfect illustration of the past year in this forum.

Went for my first pub pints since 23rd December there, was great to get a real pint but by god it's freezing. Name and phone number wanted but done in 2 minutes so no hassle

Your in Inverclyde, so possibly not in ICU by next week.

Enjoy the Riviera

Along with the great stats from today, its brilliant to see the numbers of older people now fully vaccinated. Also, over 90% of care home residents and staff have had both doses and almost 80% of NHS frontline staff. Another week of hammering second doses and I reckon the first doses for 40-49's will take off too.

With the schools all now back full-time, everything else gradually starting to open, cases might start to go up at some point, but there's still a bit of time for them to fall further before that happens, and with so many people having at least one jag, as long as we keep the vaccinations rolling on as we have been, a slight rise in cases will hopefully be the worst outcome.

With weather like this for the next week or so the hospitality industry will be taking an absolute tanking.

Its 10 degrees at best, probably feels like 4 degrees, it's windy and raining.

Which was entirely predictable after the pointless two week delay after England opened, when the weather was largely decent for the time of year.

That indoor 'test' gig in Barcelona saw two people test positive linked to that event. These are honestly so pointless that the only reason can surely be to show the Lovejoy's 'it's safe!'

Was she hot, though?

Fortunately unlike England we've opened indoor hospitality too, so at least you can sit in for a meal, albeit minus the bevvy.

That's actually an increase to numbers from the original level 2 route map. Initially capacity maximum was 500 seated, 250 standing and 100 indoors from 17 May. Looks like those can be upped in consultation with LAs

I quite agree with you, but it's surely hasn't escaped your attention that Scotland hasmy even got as far as yet begin test events.

France was of the view previously that those that had already had Covid only needed one dose.

Then again I think this was at the point that they were taking an utter kicking for their ineptitude in the vaccine rollout. Not sure if this was a strategy they ended up following.

When my gym was open between the lockdowns everyone had masks on, were largely distancing and there was constant disinfecting. Because it was necessary then.

Now it's not. It's time to get back to the real normal.

That story is sad but I don't think the lessons to be taken from it are that everything should have been shut down.
