I imagine the person who advised him how much the production company would pay him for doing it. Anyway, here’s a blast from the past.

effeffsee_the2nd
Masks on public transport: 61% Masks in indoor public spaces: 49% Interesting, as there's nowhere even close to that happening now. lucky if it's even 1% now
effeffsee_the2nd
Also a wee anecdote. my other half is part of a wee social group that meets about once a month, when the resumed meeting in person after restrictions ended there was one couple who wouldn't meet anyone in person as they were absolutely terrified of catching it ( this was with good reason tbf as their health is very poor) but even they are now casually socialising away like it's 2019, no masks no distancing. I know plenty other examples of this too with people who took quite a while to ease back in to the old ways but are now quite relaxed about things. You're really just down to a handful of people who are either; 1) still terrified of the virus 2) acting out to prove a point or virtue signal 3) using it as an excuse to avoid things they don't want to do Everyone else, in this country at least has reverted to type that's my observation

I went to Forth Valley hospital on Monday for a visit. There was a desk at the front door offering masks, but it was by no means mandatory. I reckon about half the people in the main corridor were wearing them. On the ward, nobody was.

Todd_is_God
I think its simply far more likely that the only people who still care enough about Covid to respond to a survey about restrictions are those permanently broken by it than any shenanegans tbh.

I should make clear I wasn't being entirely serious in the above comment. Also, will China be able to keep this going for much longer? It looks like ole Rona is starting to get away from even the CCP. Growing social unrest from a hungry, broken population, and the economic consequences, could end up forcing their hand IMO.

What is interesting to me is that Chinese people who are not in China have stopped going back. Anecdotally I know a few guys in this position. One guy has an uncle in China who is terminally ill, but he isn't going back to visit him as the restrictions are too onerous and liable to change with no notice. So instead he went to Argentina, climbed a mountain there (he and his uncle had climbed it together before) and recorded a video of himself at the top. He then sent it to his uncle when he got back down. He had originally planned to video call his uncle from the top, but there was no signal. Eventually we'll find loads of Chinese people throughout the world who have not gone back for a long time.

Yup, it must be absolutely horrendous being away from family for so long, but at the same time, Chinese nationals abroad are the lucky ones. There is talk of Chinese citizens having their passports taken to prevent them from leaving the country, which I imagine is next to impossible anyway.
