Sherrif John Bunnell
Remember when people used to claim that Johnson just pretended to be thick?

Zetterlund
Remember after the Liz Truss debacle there were people genuinely saying in public that perhaps Boris Johnson deserves another chance at it. What a country. I will go to my grave without the slightest inkling of what the appeal was with that arsehole.
vikingTON
Quote An email entered into evidence from MacNamara showed she sought to highlight consequences of a lack of gender diversity among decision makers, starting with the lack of provision for domestic abuse victims during the first lockdown. “It is very difficult to draw any conclusion other than women have died as a result of this,” the email said. Quite a reach for the same clown who wheeled a karaoke machine into Downing Street for lockdown parties to play the feminist concern card.

Radio 5 live get folk from the covid families for justice group on every day to talk about how they lost a loved one whilst Boris Johnson was throwing parties. But there is no justice coming their way. What is 'justice' exactly in this case? The 'do as we say, not as we do' behaviour of political leadership was completely risible; but there was still a novel virus knocking off folk. There was no causal relationship between the two, so the 'Covid families for justice' are yelling at a cloud.

ICTChris
https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-023-06674-5 Quote recall of perceived risk, trust in institutions and protective behaviours depended strongly on current evaluations. Although both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals were affected by this bias, people who identified strongly with their vaccination status—whether vaccinated or unvaccinated—tended to exhibit greater and, notably, opposite distortions of recall.
101
Session yesterday had a senior official claiming that no impact assessment was carried out and football amongst other "male" sports were prioritiesed for recommencing without any detailed reasoning. Which was pretty interesting. Also took them 7 months to get hand sanitizer in the cabinet office/ number 10.

ICTChris
Long thread about Cummings evidence statement, which is itself pretty long.
Miguel Sanchez
This thread is a good historical record. We should be cited in the inquiry.

GTee
Was Boris the only politician to end up in ICU? I seemed to recall a couple of nurses - one was maybe Portuguese - saving his life. Maybe not
GTee
So everyone blaming Boris, who is - well who knows what he's up to. Kill COVID with a hair dryer up your nose. Drink bleach if you want. Where were these folk at the time - partying along with Boris. What at waste of £100s of millions on a pointless inquest, on top of the billions on track and trace and dodgy PPE contracts. Unionists loved Boris.

No impact assessment was carried out for any of the parade of nonsense restrictions that were imposed by law. There is no need for an impact assessment to switch back to normality either. If she wanted to flag breaches of the law then her role as lead karaoke organiser in Downing Street seems a more viable option.

vikingTON
The outrage produced by the inquiry is already reaching demented levels of its own: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2023/nov/03/women-uk-covid-response Quote At the most basic level, a lack of representation at the table excludes gender-related insights and expertise. MacNamara highlighted specific issues that were overlooked... She said the WhatsApp group for her children’s school – typically the domain of mothers – provided a barometer of public sentiment from which leadership appeared disconnected. Aye because that's exactly what we need to manage a future pandemic virus. Policy being set by a bunch of full-time maws on a fucking school WhatsApp group. A reliable barometer of public sentiment indeed. No wonder Cummings filed this fruit loop's views in the bin where they belong.
