As i've mentioned before what's the greater risk between hitting a beach in Southend or Bournemouth with poor social distancing and thousands of drunken louts or spending a week touring Eastern Europe or even going to Spain, Italy or Portugal where they've got good infrastructure and social distancing in operation, not to mention less infections than the UK ??

According to the UK Gov, Britain is safer for some reason and I really can't fathom why ????

British exceptionalism. Dunkirk. Spitfires.

Rich people can basically see it as a 1k payment to not need to quarantine

The quarantine won't be enforced to any great extent.

The real enforcement is having to take 3 weeks off work to go away for a week. No one is doing that.

I think using a bit of common sense for outdoor activites such as hiking, fishing and golf are all they are asking. Don't go to the mountains in Skye if your from Glasgow when you can go to Ben Lomond or the Cobbler same scenario with fishing and golf, stay local.

We now have just over 8 weeks worth of evidence that common sense is in shorter supply than was previously estimated.

Really not sure that it's entirely 'common sense' to push greater Glasgow's population towards the most local and already obvious hotspots in any decent weather anyway. The further that people can travel from the central belt then the more likely they are to actually disperse to different hillwalking routes, beaches etc.

I know what your saying maybe the 2 hotspots were the wrong ones to use as I was up the Cobbler last summer and it was pretty choc a bloc but mostly with tourists. I was meaning more the hills around the West coast, there is plenty quieter ones to choose from. Plus the parking for the Cobbler is about a tenner now

The quarantine thing is to molly coddle the Mail and Express sector, it won't do a thing to cut down the infection rate whilst we've one of the highest. They'll announce more exclusions over the next few weeks so it's only Brazilian youth hostelers that it applies to.

Agreed.

I'd rather put money aside for next year than spend the equivalent for a week in shiteholes like Blackpool

Give us a knock on number 27, I'll take a gram of coke and 10 diazepam.

There are lots of amazing places across Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales to visit that match up with Europe (if you get the weather).

The corridors have been painted since then but the carpet is the same.

Im still crossing my fingers for my trip to San Diego in September.

We've got a fortnight in mexico the second half of September. Now Mexico is getting bent over a bit atm, but Quintana Roo itself not really.

Assuming travel is allowed, worst case scenario we'll move it to next year and look to pick up a last minute deal for this year.

Best case scenario we go as planned.

Almost best case scenario is we move it about a month before to next year, and rebook the same holiday the day before at about half the price.

The US is the absolute last place I’d be hoping to head to tbh.

We’ve both had it so believe we have a decent enough level of immunity that we’ll assess when reliable antibody testing comes in and the place we’re going in San diego is shaping up to be very quiet. If the virus picks up again we will obviously think again.

Yeh? Im sorry but working in the public sector in Scotland means the mrs and I tend to want to get as far away from Scottish or British people as possible when im on annual leave and relaxing. Also we’re not particularly ‘outdoorsy’ so as beautiful as the likes of Skye and up North are, it doesnt appeal to me for a 2/3 week holiday and it would appear the prices for 3 weeks in similar hotel standards as we have booked here would be about 3/4x the cost of our holiday in San Diego etc.
