With the unrestricted number/movement of foreign players these days, there's very little variation in styles between top flight teams.

The difference between German, Spanish, Italian, French, Yugoslav, British sides was stark in contrast to what you see now.

Ray Patterson
English is technically foreign in a Footballing context so this question is a paradox.

nsr
Nationality has increasingly little to do with football. The English league happens to be played in England. A large number of the players, managers, owners, fans and TV/online viewers aren't English. Nothing wrong with that of course, but the physical location of the matches is the only thing that differentiates it from the other big European leagues.

Today, there are very distinct styles of - say - German, Spanish, French, Russian and UK-made filth as we are stlll relatively early in the period where the internet has allowed access to the sites, sights and sounds of other countries, and recognisably different styles are able to maintain their individual appeal (PornHub categorises videos by their country of origin, for instance); in a decade or so, it will all have morphed in to a far less distinctive morass of generic depravity, although I'd like to think there will still be a place for niche, parochial interests in the same way that fans of "real football" today turn their backs on the cosmopolitan clown-show which is the top flight game, and go back to their far more traditional and nationalistic roots by watching lower-league fare... I'll be going to Wingate & Finchley v Lewes this weekend, before hunting down as many Fiona Cooper videos on-line as I can find, with the Premier League waffling on unwatched on MOTD

tongue_tied_danny
Aside from the actual football itself I find the overall matchday experience is better is better in Germany than England. Cheaper tickets, tasty bratwurst, refreshing beer and usually a more electric atmosphere. Oh and German Goo Girls is far better than any UK produced porn.

Absolutely correct - far better than the lamentable parade of skanks on British Bukkake Babes and the like; that said - and in typical German style - Mr Thompson's oeuvre is horrifically over-produced and very intense to the point of being almost industrial - you could say it's all a bit too "in your face"...
