Tier 6 relegation and league names

Recommended Posts

The WoSFL have confirmed this afternoon that the clubs have voted to go to a 16-team top league for season 2021-22, so there will be 7 teams relegated to tier 7 at the end of the coming season.

The tier 6 league will be called the "Premier Division", and the other leagues formed after the conference season will be called "1st Division", "2nd Division" and "3rd Division".

Happy for the names and to see the one season attempt to rejig things.

Has it been considered to follow the EoS model for the Conferences this season? Calling them First Division Conference A, B, C and a playoff for an overall First Division champion?

God awful idea 7 Team relegation in a 20 team non league that is losing two or three months couldn't make this nonsense up. Thats my opinion and several more in the game i'm in close contact with.

Add to that a bland weak statement about restarting instead of taking action against said club in the newspaper and those with evidence against them we get this.

Who exactly is running the asylum?

Yep, it'll be cut-throat stuff but I'm looking forward to it starting. Finish in the top 13 and you're safe, the same as it was in the WRSJFA Premiership.

Could finish 12th 13th and still be relegated if a club drops down from the LL? ;)

If Caley Braves, Cumbernauld Colts, or East Kilbride(!) get relegated but no one from the WOSFL gains promotion then an extra team needs to be relegated to remain at 16 clubs. Same thing happens with the EOSFL.

Could also include Dalbeattie Star or Gretna if things changed but they were assigned to the SOSFL last season.

Even the possibility of it if the WoSFL champion is promoted. Especially this year with the Lowland League relegating 2-3 clubs instead of 1-2.

But unless Gretna 2008 & Dalbeattie Star get classed as WoSFL clubs for relegation purposes. Its probably not going to be something to worry about for a while.

True, the next argument will be what to do if there's promotion to the LL but no team received - spare 14th from the drop or promote the best 2nd place from the Conferences?
That's already decided, 14th place would be spared from relegation in that instance.
