Granted, Turner kinda predates the enormous social media explosion of the past ten years, but both he and McCoy HC'd some absolute stinkers as Chargers coaches, but they never got comprehensively torn to shreds by onlookers like this. I think perhaps it's the spotlight of having a rookie QB performing at an unexpectedly high level that is really holding Lynn's feet to the fire, but regardless, he fully deserves all the criticism he's getting. He's seemingly told the playing staff that playoffs are 'probably' not happening this season. Couple of years ago the Chargers were lining up to kick a chip-shot game-winning FG. The Steelers just kept repeatedly, deliberately jumping offsides, in the hope that eventually the refs would blow the call and they'd block/miss the kick. I think it's time there was a two-tier penalty for RTP, like they used to have with facemask. That's clearly not RTP, but the zebras have the league breathing down their neck so err on the side of caution. When it's one of those calls where it's 'maybe' a penalty for landing on top of the QB, call it 5 yards but no automatic first.
