Conquering Europe

March 2048

Brought in one more player, Johannus Andreassen, a guy who's here to provide depth in central midfield and on the right midfield. He's not great, but he can give us cover.

Hmm.

Not very good that, but I suppose there was only one game where I thought we had a chance of getting points, and we got a point in that one, so that's something. Not scoring a goal all month though...

0W2g854.png

We're back behind Singerei, but we've still to play them so hopefully we can get a win in that and match them for the rest of it.

Malaysia

We were poor against Qatar in a friendly, but we got a draw against Kuwait which was good, and all but guarantees that we're going to finish 2nd in the world cup qualifying group.

gfxtW0N.png

As I said, we'll be finishing 2nd, which is nice. Kuwait's only game is against Australia, while we play both Australia and Hong Kong. Hopefully another 3 points will see us through to the next round.

Is there any better teams in Moldova that you could take over if they became available?

I’ll check on the laptop later, but I think only Sheriff, Petrocub, Milsami and Zimbru have won it before, so any other than them.

Sfintul Gheorge is the job I’m ideally looking for, but they seem unlikely to sack their manager. Almost anyone is a better bet than the absolute gang I’m at just now though.

That month is going to keep us up. As many wins this month as the rest of the season combined. Just wonderful.

The win against Singerei is absolutely massive as well. Azuhar in goals had an absolute stormer, saving a penalty, and we were clinical when we got chances. Pretty similar stories in the other two wins, while Sheriff are simply far better than we are.

We also got our youth candidates through this month, and quite a few of them have gone straight into my first team. Very helpful stuff.

NyemgRn.png

We're going to finish 9th, unless SIngerei beat Milsami, we lose to Sfintul and there's a 12 goal swing.

We'll still be facing a playoff, but it's given us a shot at staying up.

Well, we lost 1-0 but FC Singerei failed to get the 11-0 win they needed, and we're heading into the relegation playoff.

ICHvkUO.png

Final table looks like this. Given we had 4 points from the first 20 games when I showed up, I'm quite pleased with the improvement shown to get 17 points in the 16 games following.

One more test to go.

Relegation Playoff 2048 - First Leg

Spoiler

ETddP4T.png

Brilliant. We should have been 2-0 down before our first goal, them missing a penalty as well as a complete sitter, but from there we took control of the game and we managed to make that count. Efros was outstanding, and we should be able to stay up from here.

Relegation Playoff 2048 - Second Leg

Spoiler

Bp3rMaP.png

Well, we've stayed up and that's the main thing.

They probably could have won by more, again missing a penalty, and our goal was the only chance we had in the whole game, but we've gotten the job done.

I'm looking to see if there's any other jobs out there, as I can't see myself doing much with this team. That said, if I have to stay, I'd like to think we won't be going down next season either.

We finished off our world cup qualification second round group with an expected loss against Australia, and another expected win over Hong Kong. We did pretty well in these games, and Australia's third was late on when I was pushing trying to grab an equaliser, so 3-1 probably flatters them.

Anyway, we were looking to be one of the best four second placed sides to continue with our qualification efforts...

szWkAo9.png

And we were the fifth best. Damn.

That draw with Kuwait is what has cost us.

LrCq6rr.png

DOrnMUa.png

I said that if I didn't get through, I'd be packing it in with Malaysia, and there we are. I'll be trying to get another international job at some point, but I don't think there's anything else I can achieve with Malaysia.

Still, a win at the AFF Championships, a respectable showing at the Asian Cup and not far from getting to the final qualification stage for the World Cup. I'll take that.

Transfers 2048/49

o5xg8bQ.png

Nothing better in Moldova came up, but I did try for a couple of jobs elsewhere with no success, so I'll be starting the season with Spartanii and see what happens. I think the fact that my last 2 jobs, prior to this, were in the Faroe Islands and Malta is counting against me, but f**k it.

Z5ApqcJ.png

QwRRflv.png

Kalymkov is the only one who had any prospect of playing, and even at that it's have to have been an emergency. Not a single one of the players I released have found a new club, which I think tells it's own story.

5Fe7FRr.png

A number of players incoming, and I think it means that I have a squad which should be capable of not being routinely humiliated by everyone else in the division. We won't be close to winning the league, but I'm hopeful that we can be a nice, boring mid table side this season. And then I'll jump ship with any luck.

Up first, centre half Constantin Ciuca who I paid money for from the side I beat in the playoffs last season. He's pretty decent defensively, nothing special, but crucially he can actually pass and vaguely control a football. I think he'll improve my defence quite a lot, and that's all I can ask for.

Spoiler

bw8fAKW.png

Next up, a goalkeeper I've been trying to sign since I arrived at the club in Anton Voronkov. He's better than the Malaysian boy, and he's young and will continue to improve as well, so I would like to hope he'll be the main goalkeeper here for the foreseeable future. Also means that unlike the absolute shitshow I had upon arrival, I have 2 goalkeepers capable of playing at this level.

Spoiler

YcDkobW.png

Like Voronkov, Kovalev joins us from after being released by Sheriff''s second side - who have won the second tier 16 times in a row. He's a good passer and pretty good player overall. Maybe a bit of a nothing player in that I can't place exactly what kind of centre midfielder he's supposed to be, but he should be able to retain possession pretty well at the very least, so that's something.

Spoiler

5eJgQLV.png

Alongside Ciuca, I also signed Dragos Avram from Victoria Bardar, this time without paying them anything. He's a left midfielder, and I'm not overly convinced by him, but I needed someone out there. He's very quick, so that's good, and I suppose his dribbling and crossing is ok, but he's not a particularly technically gifted player - maybe a bit like a Moldovan Miles Storey? f**k it, he's all I have on left wing.

Spoiler

vy6SxEc.png

Maxim Cucos was here on loan last season, and I've made it permanent. He's pretty solid, and seems to be good on the ball. Will do a good job.

Spoiler

Mt0XTB0.png

Last up, we've brought in Alexei Martin on loan. He's bascially nothing more than a poacher - good first touch, finishing and movement and absolutely nothing else to his game. I expect him to act as back up for Efros up front, but I didn't really have any options there last season so this is a good signing.

Spoiler

New6njV.png

The window is still open, but I'm about to start my league campaign so that's my signings at this point. Wouldn't expect a huge amount more to come in, but maybe.

A very good start. We lost comfortably against the two big sides, but 3 wins apart from that and my new signings have done very well.

Can't really ask for much more than that.

Good start, we'll see how it goes. If I finish 5th, I'll be delighted.

That's more along the lines I was expecting, but still not outrageously bad I guess. We're still in the cup, and we should have beaten Real Succes, so oh well.

UFh4z1G.png

We're still in fifth, so that's good. The top two are pulling away already, so that's fun.

Well, we comfortably won the only game I thought we had a chance in, so that's good - the less said about the others the better though. 12 goals conceded in 2 games. Yikes.

4X63PAU.png

We're still sitting comfortably midtable though, although closer to the bottom than any of the teams above us.

I think fifth is probably my ceiling for this season.

Two good results, two bad ones. We fell behind in the cup game against Sireti, and I was absolutely delighted not to lose it since that'd be mentioned every time I took a new job for the rest of the save.

WnRh9Cg.png

Season is already fizzled out, we should be hanging around where we are for the rest.

Oh well, better than being relegated I suppose.

Spoiler

geDUfH1.png

I've jumped ship, and I'm off to Tiraspol's wee team.

Dinamo aren't having a particularly good season, and aren't a much better side than the Spartanii team I've left (although Dinamo just beat Spartanii 4-0 in my last game there). But, they're a full time side, and they're a club who I actually think can break into the top 4 at some point, and from there overtake the top 2 sides.

We'll see if this is a gamble worth taking soon enough.

Meet the Team

4 stars is "good player for most Division Nationala sides", 3 is decent player for same

oopwbEs.png

Decent options here in Bujor and Musat, and even Malakhov is better than anything I had at Spartanii. I'll probably need to get better if I'm to catch up with Sheriff and Petrocub, but this'll do for now.

c01w87n.png

Great options on left wing and central attacking mid, I could use a better right winger though. Apparently the left winger wants to leave as well, and won't sign a new deal so that could be problematic, but will see how that goes.

JTtsCdV.png

Bit weaker, given the best couple of players will be playing somewhere else, but it's not too bad. Will need to bring in a few players here though.

JWSMjHv.png

Inexplicably my best centre half is out on loan at Sfintul Gheorge. I've recalled him, which should mean I have a pretty solid defence.

p8wSi6l.png

My first choice is fine, but no back up to that and I could use a better first choice as well. Still, not urgent.

Threw away a 3-1 lead against Zimbru, and then a standard loss against Petrocub - although we actually played fairly well against them, and very nearly stole a point at the end.

Very good performance against Milsami to round out the month.

FKXjCLY.png

Aye, I think we'll be finishing fifth, unless Milsami have a complete collapse and we can capitalise on it.

Spartanii look like they're in danger of going down.
