It kind of me makes me wish we had 2 Scotland International players playing in defence. Add to that a Ugandan International. Then our defence would be impenetrable...... We were going along nicely before the International break but the games since including on Saturday have not been good. Yes we were disallowed a perfectly good goal to put us 1-0 up but second half was poor. In fact it probably is not far wrong that when we go 1-0 up we rarely lose and when we go 1-0 down we never win. That is why that disallowed goal was perhaps more impactful that many pundits and fans would have thought or commented on. So in summary whoever scores 1st will not lose the game. Not at all confident it will be us though. Strongly agree with a lot of this. It's a very specific point that I'm tying myself in knots to make but the Hibs goal on Saturday was the first we've lost from open play against a non-OF side in the league since August - the only goal we'd conceded in the 5 (non-OF) games prior was the St Johnstone penalty the week before. Watching the game back from Saturday I'd go as far as to say we were...quite good. A bit blunt maybe but the Watt chance wasn't much different to the one he scored against County, Bevis had his goal ruled out for no good reason and overall Archer didn't really have a save of note to make. 2nd half was obviously a different story but it was a classic "if you don't take your chances..." affair. On your point about going one up...the St Johnstone LC game was the first that we've lost after going ahead all season. Spoiler County - lost to nil United - lost to nil Livi - draw, went 1 up Hibs - draw 0-0 Accies - lost to nil Glentoran - won, went 1 up Celtic - lost to nil St Johnstone - won to nil Coleraine - draw, went 1 up Aberdeen - won to nil Hapoel - lost to nil Rangers - lost, they scored first Kilmarnock - LOL St Mirren - LOL County - won to nil Livingston - won to nil Celtic - lost, they scored first St Johnstone - draw, went 1 up St Johnstone - lost, went 1 up Hibs - lost to nil Edited December 10, 2020 by capt_oats
YassinMoutaouakil
Aye I wasn't exactly enthused after Saturday but I did raise an eyebrow at some of the histrionics afterwards. I think the vast majority of our performances have been much of a muchness this season really, even when we're losing by a few goals it's usually down to breaks of the ball and bad decision making, and our more impressive results have been less than comprehensive.
FTOF
I watched the highlights and thought 3-0 flattered Hibs. Although it's stating the obvious, It will come down to which team's strikers finish better on Saturday. There's no doubt that 'Well have the better quality strikers. Unfortunately, even our midfield don't seem to be able to chip in with goals either. I take it that you offer livestream for away fans? ropy
St Mirren’s endeavours to disrupt our momentum earlier in the season should be punished. 4-0 (Steve Kirk x 4) is the least I expect.
Billy Jean King
If Well score more than 1 they win, exactly 1 they draw or win. If they don't score Saints might win. It's as simple as that
ZX1886
I take it that you offer livestream for away fans?£12 if I remember correctly. Been a few problems with it this season but the match against Hibs was certainly the best it had worked yet (unfortunately).

Lex
Last time we played Well was February, we played them three times in seventeen days. We won two and drew the other and won twice at Fir Park in a week.Let’s hope for a repeat of the Obika master class in the cup game that saw us 4-1 up at half time, but let’s hope we avoid a repeat the second half where we almost threw it away.Just seen Peter Hartley is no longer with the Well so probably hoping for too much there.Likely be another tight one, a point would be a decent result and I’ll go for 1-1.

You call it the Obika masterclass. I call it the Hartley-Mugabi catastrophe. I text my pal as soon as the line up came out that night saying the defence was giving me the absolute fear. And so it came to pass.

Mugabi played that night and is still here. We've also replaced Hartley with Ricki Lamie who is infinitely worse. Lamie might not play but if does I'd expect St Mirren to score at least 2.

You're surely not claiming the game that went to pens as a win? Two draws and a win for Saints.

RostokMcSpoons
I recall one of our recent managers (it might even be Robinson) giving a stat that - and I paraphrase as I can't remember the exact figure - "when a team goes 1-0 up they can expect to win 87% of the matches from that position" (It might have been 84% rather than 87, but deffo mid or high 80's) Which, if true, just goes to show that it's the same for pretty much all teams that you'll see a lot more wins than draws, and defeats will be notably rare, once you've got that first goal. I guess the unfortunate exception to that stat will be when facing the OF as they tend to have such a surfeit of striking power they can confidently expect to get at least a couple of goals in most games. Anyway, seeing as we're either cold or luke-warm in front of goal at the moment, I'll be expecting a 0-1 defeat or a tedious 0-0 that will make me question sitting in front of a PC for 2 hours at the weekend. buddie06smfc
2 teams who are in false positions for opposite reasons. A win here and the SPFL coming to a sensible conclusion would have us equal on points with Motherwell & the Robinson out calls will intensify. 3-0 St Mirren.
