It happens to everyone. I dropped a 33 year old captain (and solo shot) a couple of years ago.  She copped it not long afterwards!

Of course ... as written in the Laws of Dead Pool:

So anyhoo, Laws of dead pool:

Once the lists are revealed there will be an absolutely fucking obvious pick you missed.

Your nailed-on banker for a solo shot will have been picked by about ten other folk.

Someone you thought was obvious will be a surprise solo shot.

You'll share a deadly duo with a P&Ber you've never even feckin heard of before.

About two days into the year it will become clear that one (or more) of your picks is absolutely fitting fit and will see out the next two decades let alone the next year.

Someone you dropped from last years list will depart early doors.

Someone you nearly picked will depart early on.

Someone you thought was already dead will die.

Folk will pick folk that are already dead.

The Duke of Edinburgh will be the most picked in 2021.

The Duke of Edinburgh will be the most picked in 2022.

I dropped that selfish cow Marieke Vervoort after she was in the papers saying she had a new lust for life. The following year she took that trip to Switzerland, bloody captain for a couple years before too. 😡

Chef John Cocks had the audacity to die without a qualifying obituary. What a p***k!

The Daily Fail had reported his terminal illness but couldn't be arsed to publish an obit.  You can never trust the feckers!

I had that with this lad, the press made a big deal about his 'end of life party' but none of them reported it when he coofed it.

This deadpool malarky ain't an exact science is it.

If you stick to a theme team made up of former UK journalists, editors, newsreaders and the like, I suspect you're assured of a qualifying obituary every time.

While I've not made it a 'theme' I've kept an eye out for regional BBC types as its a shoe in they'll get a national BBC obit.

ETA - I'd forgotten that I had retained Paul Westphal on my list.

He was 70, and had a glioblastoma (very deadly)  - https://www.espn.co.uk/football/nba/story?id=30638260&_slug_=paul-westphal-member-naismith-memorial-basketball-hall-fame-dies-age-70.

If this is a qualifying obit, he's my first hit of the year and  qualifies for a first blood bonus.

I'm pretty sure I've rejected ESPN before. But then it's only been 40 minutes since that was posted, there's time.

I get ESPN via my BT Sports subscription.

Please give a clear and rational reason for rejecting it, especially as he was a Hall of Famer.
