Stellaboz
RB Watson beats Mackieboz in th seaside opener. Timid stuff from our lads, pre season was mixed perhaps they need a tougher training regime. Gg
ancientnoise
Thanks @Aim Here Starting the cup (not the 960) about halfway through the league schedule was popular. If you're happy with that greenie this post and I'll get it organised. And maybe another 960 at the end or in about there somewhere?

But have greenied nonetheless.

DeeTillEhDeh
Anyone noticed that it seems easier to get a move rated as brilliant on chess.com now? Here's an example from blitz game I just completed. Black has just played c5 - a blunder. Can you spot my next move which was rated as brilliant? It either wins a pawn or if black falls for the trap there is a mate in 2 to follow. Edited October 29, 2023 by DeeTillEhDeh
Trogdor
Division A Round 1 result Dearyme wins against KenDeans by resignation. @Ken Deans Thanks for the game, I was slightly better coming out of the opening and then Ken played a speculative f6 and the kingside began to crumble. Speaking of brilliant moves I got one for sacrificing an exchange in my game against Ken which wasn't brilliant. It was the whole idea of the moves I played. The brilliant move was a couple of moves before which allowed me to play for the sac.

Nxe5? If Bxd1, Bxf7+ Ke7 Nd5++ I tried to make the old Bxf7+ Kxf7 Ng5+ trick work to win the g4 Bishop but Qxg5 is pretty effective.

I've noticed this as well - move rated brilliant when it was actually a move 2 or 3 moves back that created the sac. Black only has one move. And mate (which is rated as a great move but obvious to me).

It either wins a pawn or if black falls for the trap there is a mate in 2 to follow. The algorithm changed a few months back. It used to be that if your move was evaluated by stockfish as a better position after you do it than before, then you got a brilliancy. Nobody on the planet could ever understand why it was brilliant. Nowadays, it's just a sacrificial move that wins if you look 2 or 3 moves ahead. The real truth lies somewhere in between, but getting a machine to figure it out is not easy.
