ancientnoise
Result: Div A - Round 8 ancientnoise (black) beas Curmudgeon by resignation. Another tight match (of course), with a lot of the action going along the diagonals. Thanks to @Curmudgeonfor the game.
ancientnoise
Another Result: Div A - Round 9 ancientnoise (white) beas Ken Deans by resignation. All very Even-Stevens this one, till Ken left himself open to a checking fork and lost his queen. Thanks @Ken Deansfor the match.

BaSeDG0DSA1NT
Smash and grab checkmate victory for Saint against @mathematics Strong opening by my opponent, one I have now looked at 2 or 3 times since our game as it was tough to play against. Hail Mary thrown and checkmate. GGs, 1 win each for this season. All the best for remaining fixtures.

I think this is the latest post where the rules were explained, but I could be wrong. Not sure if it's fully up to date, but the basic gist is that every few months, people sign up to play two (or occasionally just one) 'daily games' on chess.com per week in a double round robin league with two divisions (using the football scoring systems of 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw and promotion/relegation, and people play each other once as white, once as black). Daily games are where you play a minimum of one move per day. All PnBers are welcome. @ancientnoise deals with the cup these days, which is a parallel FA-Cup style knockout tournament. We're about halfway through the season right now, but if this is the sort of thing you're interested in, I can pencil you in for next season right now. At the end of this season, I'll do a callup for next season, and again, you'd be more than welcome to join in.

I probably couldn't commit to the weekly games, but appreciate the reply. Cheers

N5 Spur
Division B, Round 9 markf268 / @true_rover defeats N5 Spur by checkmate. All fairly close until the late 30s when a nice fork by my opponents bishop, with pawn strategically placed, meant he went a piece up (my knight) and kept it going from there on. Nicely played, gg, ttfn, etc.

My best game of the season, and it’s a loss. Demoralising, but an excellent opponent.

pleslie99
Pleslie999 and arabjoe draw by repetition. i got out of jail big time there. Fell behind early, got myself back into it and thought i had a winning position. Nearly resigned as my opponent had what I thought was mate in 3 but thankfully he missed it and we played out a draw (or it wasn’t there in the 1st place, but I couldn’t see a way out)
