LowerLeagueFC
Which league would be the preference for the team promoted to the Lowland League to come from? East, West or South?

East if they want less travel and a derby, west if they want a better regional balance and probably the biggest non-league club coming up. But ultimately it doesn't matter because whoever comes up from the east or west to replace VOL will improve the league, same goes for anyone coming up in the next five seasons I'd say.

Everyone knows what's coming over the next five or so years (particularly when they eventually go to 2 up as they should) you just need to look at the top half of the West Premier to see that there's 8 or 9 clubs who would sit quite happily in the LL, The East Premier will begin to run out of top clubs after Linlithgow, Tranent and Penicuik have their day, it'll take Whitburn and Armadale a few years to overcome their bad decision to stay loyal to the Juniors for too long. After that, the LL effectively becomes a former Junior Superleague with a few former SPFL thrown in together with maybe Spartans and EK, and there will be more balance between tiers 5/6/7 reflective solely of ability. Some current LL clubs could suffer a sharp decline along the lines of that currently being experienced by WW.

Football is cyclical which may suggest that some of the teams you mention may fall away over the next 5 years, or perhaps longer. We have seen money men come and go at clubs, and the clubs yo-yo accordingly. Of course not all clubs are like that, and the well run ones will be a constant. Overall, it may not be as cut and dried as people think especially if the current promotion and relegation scenario doesn’t change.

That goes without saying, but only one club like that springs to mind in the West Premier out of the top 10, so the point still stands. You could point to how long will Colts, Braves, Broomhilll and even East Kilbride remain in the LL without their current backing. The first three could get their fan base into a mini bus. OK perhaps unfair but you get the point. It remains the case that if the LL is interested in "ventilation" then they increase the relegation spots from next season. If they don't, they're only intererested in suffocation to keep some of their clubs at an artifically high level and delay the inevitable.

The SOSFL would need to drop down somehow I can't see how you can have 2 teams from 3 leagues promoted

I wouldn't say 99/100. A team could pick up a draw, win on penalties and it could be enough to be promoted. There would be a few more spoilers than 1. It's the simplest way to go though without rocking the boat.

Don't get hung up on numbers, it was just illustrating the point that rarely would an SoSFL team be promoted, but if they did, then they would be a decent team anyway so no issue.

RossBFaeDundee
In any other reasonable scenario, they would be relegated. Thanks to the league's commitment to bottlenecking the pyramid system however, there is a very plausible scenario where they stay up again.
