welshbairn
Dyce showing some potential for appearing in future play offs there with a cup win against uninterested Cutler. No effect on this season but I wonder if the SFA have opened their books again for new licensing applications, if not, why not?

Cutler were out the night before at a event at Migintys hence the poor showing
Moorie
Headed to the cutler game yesterday last minute decision as no other football on in the city. the ref definitely thinking he was the main man with one of the Sunnybank players sent off for telling him that he could ref the game better. Are cutler in a place to challenge for the HL?

afca32
Some game at Dyce tonight. Cracking goals, huge turnaround and a decent crowd. Just a shame it was bloody freezing. Hermes were playing some lovely stuff at 2-0 then collapsed as soon as they conceded the first. I was very impressed with the big striker for Dyce who got an impressive hat trick, but while he was missing for much of the second half, the boy Gafar for Hermes was the star for a masterclass in the first half. Hard to believe he is only 17 and I'd expect he'll be playing Highland League or higher pretty soon. Edited March 8 by afca32

lowenan
The 16 team top league started with five newly promoted teams, and at the moment, it looks likely that none of those will be relegated, and that none of the teams that got relegated last season, will get promoted back up this season. That's would mean 8 new top league teams out of 16, in just two seasons, with then five ex-top league teams from the past two seasons, in the first division next season, if that happens.
lowenan
Culter, Hermes, Dyce and Bridge Of Don Thistle the longest serving teams in the top league at the moment, also the top four teams in results over the past decade. Just a shame that there seems to be little talk of these teams getting licensed.

I think Dyce were aiming for one a wee while ago with lights going up, but stand to be corrected
welshbairn
I think Dyce were about to apply before the SFA closed the books for new applicants, no idea if they've opened it up again. Just my impression, could be Dyce aren't ready.
FairWeatherFan
Even if there was the desire to do something. The SFA's handling of the licensing process will have slowed things down. Its often said that a 3-way split would be more balanced than what we've got currently. If you look at it from that perspective and the Highland T6 leagues being the last to party its not so bad. Highland (HL/Mid/North/NCL) = 22 East (LL/EoS) = 34 West (LL/WoS/SoS) = 26

Just a shame that there seems to be little talk of these teams getting licensed. Maud have been in the top league longer than Bridge of Don Thistle and Bridge of Don Thistle have played a few seasons over the past decade in the 1st Divison as either Hillhead or Newburgh Thistle. Banks O Dee would be the other dominant team over the last decade. Sunnybank are another top club with league titles, back after suffering financial problems due to over ambition which nearly closed the football club. Their ground looks like a potential Highland League ground with some development. They would be a top half team in the HL if they went up. There isn't anyone else who really wants to. Its huge step up for teams many of which are only a step up from the amateurs. There just isn't the pool of players at HL standard to go around nor the finances. Same goes for the NCL. The Midlands League is where future HL clubs will come from.
